“We could split up,” Dream offered, suddenly getting really into the conversation. The mention of other people probably stirred up his competitive side. “Some of us head to the Underground while the rest of us go back for the top-soil-- what’d you call them? Knockouts?”
“Okay, well Techno and I can’t split up or else our costume won’t make sense. Well-- my costume won’t make sense. Techno will just look like a freak walking alone.” Wilbur doubled over in pain after Techno gut-punched him.
“Fine. Wilbur and I go Underground while you two stay top-soil. Report back findin’s and whoever finishes first just meet up with the other group,” instructed Techno, and Tommy didn’t have the heart to disagree with the plans despite vehemently hating said plans.
Trick-or-treating was supposed to be with family. Now he was doing it with Dream?

Tommy licked his lips, digging into the meal. He didn’t notice Tubbo sneakily grabbing his cup, pouring something inside and shoving it back into place.
Tommy swallowed his last bite, grabbing the goblet and throwing it back. Liquid drizzled down his chin, the boy licking his lips with a satisfied “ahh.”
Tubbo smiled at him, quickly guzzling his plate down as well.
Suddenly, Tubbo latched into Tommy’s arm, startling the boy as he stood up.
“Wha- Tubbo?” Tommy questioned as the brunet dragged him down the halls. “Where are we going?”
Tubbo stayed silent, a determined look on his face.
Tommy’s eyes widened as he realized what path they were taking. “Wilbur’s office? Tubs, why are you taking me there?”
Or, Tommy is abused and Tubbo gives him a truth potion so that he’ll finally talk to someone about it.

Wilbur soot never spoke a lot. He found that a few glares or nods would do the trick. It's not like he couldn't talk, because he could. In fact, there were times when he knew nobody could hear him, and he would sing.
The raspiness of his words would make his throat bleed as he sang out the calloused words of a broken man
But rarely anybody ever heard his voice, in this day and age he could order everything he needed online without as much as making one sound. It was perfect for him.

“Me!” It yelled again, pointing towards the forest. It was then Wilbur realized that the tips of its fingers were inky. Wilbur tried to not stare at them. “Me!” It yelled again, probably assuming that Wilbur didn’t get it.
“You?” Wilbur smiled, playful. “You’re the one that’s been throwing rocks at me?”
It nodded enthusiastically. “Me!” It pointed at its own chest. “Me! To—” It coughed. “Tom-my!”
“Tommy?” Wilbur clarified, scrunching up his nose. Tommy was a… odd name for a shape-shifter-shadow-forest-monster.
“Tom-my!” It chirped, tapping its chest. “Tom-my, he!”

Summary
Phil wakes up to a high pitched scream, and it’s purely parental instinct that lugs his tired body out of bed. Blinking tiredly, and rubbing his eyes, he barely makes out his alarm clock to be 3:43am. Way too fucking early, but Phil’s not a terrible father so he crosses his arms over his robe and makes his way to Tommy’s room.
The five year old is predictably out of bed, blankets pushed to the side where a small blond child should be laying. Strangely enough, he’s not hiding in the closet like he normally does whenever he’s scared, and Phil places his hands on his hips. He’s way too tired to deal with this, but anything for Tommy, he supposes.

He glanced up again, and this time his eyes caught on the TV playing in the corner of the cafe. The volume was turned down, but Wilbur read the headline and found himself forgetting all about the drawings on Tommy’s jacket.
Coven cleared of all legal suspicion for recent Turning
The captions were on for the TV, and while they weren’t very accurate, Wilbur tried to read what the newscaster was saying anyway.
”The Turning was ruled by a judge to be an act of the Good Samaritan Law, and no criminal charges will be brought to the vampire or his coven as a whole.”
or, vampires and humans have coexisted for over a century now, each minding their own business. Frankly, Wilbur barely knows anything about vampires, and he likes it that way. All that matters to him is his bookstore job, his motorcycle, and his best friend, Tommy. It's not like he has any reason to get involved in the world of the undead. That's not his problem.
At least until the undead start knocking on his door, telling him that Tommy is somehow far more involved in the world of vampires than Wilbur could've ever guessed. Then it becomes his problem.

Summary
Phil didn’t love Tommy. Of course not. Tommy wasn’t the sort of kid that people loved - he was tolerated at best, an easy paycheck that, at fourteen, could take care of itself without bothering the people offering him a roof over his head and (usually) a bed. Tommy had learned long ago that nobody would ever want to keep him - he was too old, too annoying, too everything for anyone to love. Phil was nice about it, nicer than Tommy deserved, and Tommy knew he would never meet someone like him again - he was going to be thrust back into the endless cycle of uncaring houses and cruel ‘parents’ and that would be his life until he turned eighteen.
Tommy blinked back tears as Phil led the way into the living room. He didn’t want to leave.

"Tommy, kids are always going to be assholes." Phil says, for once sounding like a robot, almost monotone in that way Techno's tone is on the daily. "Just ignore them. They're probably just miserable and," Phil lifts one hand and waves it around, gesturing, before bringing it back down to continue typing. He doesn't turn around to look at Tommy at all. "—you know." he sighs.
"You can a handle it." his dad says. "Just— grow up. Be the bigger person."
A heavy weight like a stone drops in Tommy's stomach. He feels it, and with the stone, his heart as well. For a second, he thinks he might be sick.
Just grow up.
"O—oh." Tommy chokes, feeling a ball forming in his throat, blocking it up, causing tears to prick at his eyes. He goes to try to speak around it, but—
"Is there anything else you need?" Phil asks, endlessly facing away, still not even bothering to face Tommy. "I'm really busy, kiddo."

Summary
Phil, wise beyond the years his friends thought he held and yet hopelessly foolish, had thought the incident would be a one off thing. He had thought the crows would simply move on, now that his wings had been preened, and let him continue on with how he had been going about his life like nothing had happened.
However, the thing about the crows, was that despite how cute they were at times, they were and always would be beings of chaos, determined to make him lose his mind at their antics and stories. And with that chaotic nature came the fact that they were very, very stubborn.
Needless to say, Phil's assumption had been very, very wrong.
Phil tries to return to his non-traditional self harm (not that he would ever admit that it was self harm, but that was conversation to have with an actual person), as if there wasn't a stubborn murder of crows that were very attached to him and refused to let him have his way about this.

Tommy tried not to blush as he shook his head. “No, but no coffee. I think I would literally explode. And don’t call me sunshine.”
Wilbur laughs. “Don’t worry, I won’t give you coffee if it would save the world. And what else am I supposed to call you?”
“My name,” Tommy says, following Wilbur into the kitchen.
Wilbur stops and turns around, a sly grin on his face. He ruffles Tommy’s hair. “But you’re like a mini sun. It fits.”
Tommy slaps his hand away and pushes past him into the kitchen, taking his usual seat on the stool. “It's tacky.”

Summary
Tommy knew he was sick the second he woke up. With a sore throat and aching limbs, he wanted to cuss out the world. The only reason he didn’t was because that would actually be pretty fucking painful.
It wasn’t a surprise really. In fact it was kinda inevitable. With the stiff air of his apartment, his diet of salty raman, and his insane work hours. Sooner or later Tommy was going to get sick, it was just going to happen.
That didn’t mean he needed to be happy about it. Especially because he had to go into work in only a few hours.
Or-Tommy is very sick, but still has to go into work. His manager, Wilbur, sees how ill he is and decides to take him home.
