The heavy wood doors to the throne room slammed open and then closed behind them. He felt a prickle of anxiety as Gabriel hauled him towards the raised chair. As Jack was flung into it, the linen around his waist flared and his bare ass slid across the cold obsidian.
He stared up, askance.
The God of the Underworld leaned over him, a hand on each of the armrests, until their faces were nearly touching. Jack’s stomach fluttered for all the wrong reasons. Gabriel smelled like petrichor, rich earth, not decay like Jack had assumed.
“Your turn, then,” Gabriel invited, dark eyes glinting. “Command away.”

"Am I supposed to be meeting Captain America today? Because I am not prepared for that," Bucky said. He tried to play it off as a joke, but seriously, he would have found something nicer to wear if he'd known he was going to meet a national icon.
"Uh, it's only me," Grant said, biting his lip a little, just enough to show off the bright gold of his lip ring, and Bucky kinda wanted to help out with the whole biting thing, because Grant's lips were lush and pink and very biteable looking.

But how is he to do that when people view him as nothing more than damaged goods, someone to be sneered at, ridiculed, looked down upon, or pitied at best?
An opportunity presents itself when Lord Barnes, the renowned carefree Casanova of Brooklyn, forgets himself during one night of drunken stupor, sending Steve a letter that flouts all laws of common decency. Gabriel clamped his molars down on his tongue, trying to squash the nonsensical impulse. Alphas didn’t claim other alphas, and they certainly didn’t mark them. But the want was powerful, physical, prickling over his skin. He couldn’t stop looking at the smooth curve of Jack’s neck, envisioning a bite there. His bite.
He sucked in a breath.
Sweat, smoke, mountain air.
Gabriel’s eyes widened as he realized what he was smelling. It was Jack’s heat, arousal pheromones rising from his skin in soft waves. That couldn’t be what it was. Barring the incredibly rare exception, alphas couldn’t smell other alphas’ heat.
There was nothing else it could be though.
