Gojo settled into silence. He knew not to push boundaries at a time like this, so he sat back in his chair and observed the two in front of him. Nanami would come around. At the end of the day, Nanami was a reasonable adult. When his panic finally eased up, he’d recognize that slip ups like this happened sometimes. Gojo also knew what others didn’t. Nanami wasn’t as nearly harsh and critical of him as he outwardly displayed. It was a fact that Gojo would often tease the other man for when others weren’t around to see it and Nanami would flush and grumble something incoherent under his breath. Nanami was avoiding looking at him or hearing him talk for that very reason. He didn’t want to forgive him yet, so he needed to avoid the genuineness in Gojo’s tone and body language. He needed time to be livid and Gojo would give it to him.

Summary
Nanami thinks that Gojo might spend more of his evenings in Nanami’s apartment than he does in his own home at the school, when he’s not off on missions. And Nanami lets him. He’s not even sure how it happened, really, but Gojo has a habit of barging into where he wants to be and making everyone else shift to fit.
So, though tonight is not strange, necessarily, it’s cast in a sort of dreamlike, fantastical glow that dulls Nanami’s senses, and it takes him another twenty minutes before he realizes he can feel Gojo’s leg twitching against his own. He can feel Gojo’s body heat radiating, rather than the neutral layer of coldness that encases all of Gojo’s careless touches. Gojo has to carve infinity from his being with a scalpel, and he’s done so in Nanami’s apartment.

It’s hard to believe it, but the evidence is right before his eyes: Gojo, lying on his back, in his bed with one arm limply hanging over his eyes. To Nanami’s annoyance, Gojo still has his boots on, but that’s a less grievous sin in light of the fact that his uniform is covered in various fluids. He’s hesitant to call all of it blood, because some of it is purple and green, and some of it is sliding closer and closer to his blanket with every heaving, sporadic breath that Gojo takes. Nanami’s not sure what to do or say. Eventually his mouth decides for him.
