Summary
“It is just-” Laurent starts but stops when he feels his throat becoming tight. He steals a glance at Damen, only to find him as patient and understanding as always. It is almost frustrating some times, those times when one wishes for a fight, for someone to hate them so much they’ll choke on it, only so they would validate their own disgust of themselves.
“I cannot bear the thought of them knowing.” he manages to say. “For them to think I might have wanted it.”
“No one thinks that Laurent.” Damen’s voice is as straight and certain as the throw of a spear. “You were a child. They know you were.”
“You heard what he said in front of them, in front of you!”
Damen’s eyes are blazing like a living ember. “Lies accompanied by more lies. The truth was revealed in the end. They do not believe his words anymore and I would never have believed them regardless.”
“But the words were still said, Damen!”
Takes place about a day after the end of the book. Laurent and Damen discuss what happened and what their future entails.

Summary
There is a scar running down his face, starting from the corner of his left eye down towards his mouth and then cutting across his chin. Bruce imagines it makes his rare smiles sharper, more menacing, always with a slight downward tilt.
His gaze stays on his eyes. God, those eyes. They anger him more than anything. How dare this man wear them. Right now, with no hint of green present, they are exactly like they had been all these years ago. A sky-born blue caged in a beautiful almond shape. They used to be so expressive… these eyes cried and laughed and screamed so loudly, one did not have to look anywhere else to gaze deep inside his son’s soul. They are exactly the same now.
Bruce forces himself to take a breath. “Hello Jason” he says and nods at him. Jason keeps looking at him as if trying to uncover a deep secret- no that is not true. He looks at him as if he has already found it and wishes he hadn't. He does not say anything.
Set throughout the months after the confrontation with the Joker. Bruce does not believe that this older, taller Jason is the son he lost. Everyone grieves differently, some people grieve forever.

Summary
“Death doesn’t happen to you.” Jason finally says. “It happens to those you leave behind.”
Dick’s breath hitches in his throat. His tears are flowing down his face once again. He falls to his knees, burying his face in his hands, his previous stoic facade forgotten. If only Jason would stop talking. He does not want to hear.
“When I died” Jason starts. “You and Bruce and Alfred and every other person who cared for me even if only for a second, were left to pick up the pieces.”
Dick feels Jason kneeling beside him, he likes to imagine that if he could, he would have touched him, would have cradled his face and wiped away his tears.
“A part of us always lives inside the minds and the souls of the people around us, and when we die, we are unable to take that part with us. It does not belong to us, it never did.” Jason’s voice sounds smooth and resigned, wise in a way he had never heard it before.
He doesn’t dare lift his head to look at his brother, he doesn’t think he could bear it.
Weeks after Jason's death and while Christmas is approaching, Dick decides he cannot endure life any longer. Jason visits his older brother, but it is Bruce who eventually finds him.

Summary
“Oh, bullshit Bruce! Not everything is about you. He died and you still find a way to make his death, your son’s death all about you! You are not the only one who mourned him, you know? Do you have any idea what it was like seeing him everywhere around me, both asleep and awake? Being haunted by every single thing he loved or hated, so much that my grief started distorting all our memories together, transforming them, until I did not even remember what was real and what was not! And worst of all, you wouldn't even let us talk about him. Not me, not Tim, noone! He worshiped him and you went and used Jason’s memory as a cautionary tale instead of telling him stories of the boy who inspired him in the first place! You wanted to pretend as if he never even existed, because the only way you know how to deal with pain is to ignore it, to hide it from everyone and everything!” he yells and Dick almost feels lightheaded from how out of breath he is. But this is not only about him. Bruce needs to know, he needs to fucking understand for once in his life.
Dick finds out who is behind the Red Hood and that Bruce kept such a secret from him. Second chapter is between Dick and Jason.

Summary
“He is dead, isn’t he?” He says when she reaches him and feels a bottomless pit of dread starting to form inside him.
At first she does not answer. She looks at him as if this is the first time she has laid eyes upon him, as if she is seeing someone else in the fading green of his gaze.
“Yes.” she answers in her jagged voice.
Or, Peleus learns of his son's death.

Summary
"You have no right to decide what I can or can't do! Stop patronizing me!"
Like almost every night, Wayne Manor is filled with screams that shake even the windowpanes. And like almost every night, Alfred thanks the heavens that they don't have neighbors for miles around, because if they did, they'd end up with the police on their doorstep more times than he can count.
If there is anything up there, he just hopes the discussion is over before dinnertime.
"Jaylad, I'm not trying to..."
"Fuck you!"

Summary
Jason's an idiot. A fucking idiot. He thought he could take some goons no problem, and now he's stuck on a warehouse floor with next to no heartbeat and his family crying over his "corpse". How the hell is he gonna fix this?
