Summary
V found herself on the roof, with Johnny sitting by her side. Their gaze was fixated on the luminescent glow of the Secure Your Soul advertisement in the towering building before them.
"So, what will it be?" Johnny's voice broke the silence. After everything they went through, V was able to notice the small jitters of anxiousness as he waited for her decision.
But V doesn't remember the answer she gave. Instead, she found herself jolted awake in her former apartemnt - her very old apartment, one she had while working for Arasaka's counterintelligence.
Was it all just a dream? A warning? An opportunity?
or
It's sort of "time-travel" I guess (??). I wanted to play with the idea of fixing shit to get a happier ending for our V.

Phantom Liberty spoilers!
Ever since V got her miracle cure in a secret FIA lab, her days have been nothing but grey. She works long hours at a junk stall so that she can make rent and spend the rest of her hours staring at her ceiling. Today is just like every other day for the past year, bland and full of shifting faceless crowds.
As V is eyeing the crowd, she spots him.
He’s got light skin, short and curly blonde hair, leather jacket and dark jeans on, and is probably shorter than she is — but that’s not what V notices. V notices the way he walks, not like he owns the place but like it’s still standing by his grace. She notices the scowl on his face, the way it twists his lips. She notices the way he holds his shoulders, like his left arm is heavy, despite clearly having modern, symmetrical chrome. She knows him instantly, like she knows her own self.
It’s Johnny motherfucking Silverhand.

Posters on the wall said that Johnny and Kerry were performing as a double ticket, the date given being March 30th, 2013. This placed her right before Alt’s death, his downward spiral already underway. Issues with Kerry, lost glory days of Samurai, drug abuse, and not to mention he and Alt were on the rocks so bad they’d be done in about fifteen days and she’d be dead right after they ended it. Johnny told her once that this was the nightmare he had that plagued him, the one that made him sweat, never forgetting a single detail. Including the month leading up to it. Fuck. Of course they landed right in the middle of this, why wouldn’t they? Couldn’t have been back in 2004 when he was living his best life. Nope. Had to be now.

"Right. So the sort of thing you jerk it to with your pinky sticking out."
Johnny exhales a zigzag of smoke as he shakes his head. "This ain't some gluey nudie mag, V. This is feeling."
Or: While in control of V's body one night, Johnny commissions a braindance for the two of them to watch together.

He hadn’t even noticed that he was doing it until V asked him why he kept playing with his holo. For weeks now, he’d been pulling it out whenever he spotted something he wanted to remember- snapping a picture before he forgot again. He knew his brain was pretty much just binary code, and he knew that he could watch his memories at will if he jacked into V’s data pad, but something about pointing a camera at something and capturing it from a different point of view was reassuring to him. It was making him feel good about being alive. So he’d been taking pictures. Of places he’d come to know, both because of his time in V’s head and his time exploring the new Night City on his own. Of people he’d seen out on the street, of billboard ads he thought were funny, of the food he was trying, of a party at Kerry’s, of nights spent at the Afterlife, of his car, of anything.
Or: Johnny finds a new hobby after realising how unreliable his memory was.
