"Hayakawa Aki is perhaps the most indecipherable human Angel has ever met. For someone so driven to accomplish his ambitious goals, he tangos with death a bit too often. Maybe it's in his nature. He's gotten good at the footwork, avoiding stepping on death's toes. But it's a dangerous game. Perhaps accepting his impending death grants him the courage, or perhaps indifference, to get closer than close to things that could kill him."
A light-hearted fic about Aki and Angel getting closer. Mostly canon compliant, before shit hits the fan. Here, we can pretend that nothing tragic will happen to these slow burning hunters.

“I—” Denji swallowed, and then schooled himself to answer brashly. “It was Power! She just crashed in to raid the fridge and ate the cake even when I told her not to!”
Yoshida chuckled, the sound sending shivers running down Denji’s spine. “I see,” he said, punctuating it with a scrape of his teeth against the shell of Denji’s ear.
Suddenly Denji found a long, elegant index finger tipping his chin up all the way so he could see Yoshida smirking down at him, “But Denji, baby, your mouth is smeared with chocolate.”

It's been nearly two weeks since the disastrous factory explosion that Kieran and Lauren only barely survived, and they haven't talked about it. Not her being shot, not the words they shared when they thought they were going to die, and certainly not what happened when they learned about the bomb.
Kieran is haunted by nightmares of Lauren dying and can't figure out why the idea of it terrifies him so greatly. Lauren seems determined to put it all behind them, but when a perfectly average night goes awry, a moment of vulnerability leads to an overdue conversation and some important realizations.

Summary
Light Yagami masked himself to be a perfect model of various archetypes. The perfect student, the perfect son, the perfect friend, the perfect boyfriend. It was as though he refused to let a single flaw slip through him, as though being human was something wrong to be, replacing chances for mistakes with satisfactory yet saccharine ‘outcomes.’
The moment L enters Light Yagami’s world in person, Light conjures up the perfect plan: to pretend flirt with L and romance him into giving up his real name. L sees right through him, but pretends to go along with Light’s advances in hopes of eventually unmasking him to be Kira.
They form a fake relationship, and it becomes a delicate game to see who makes the mistake of slipping first. But when Light loses his memories while in confinement, the line quickly blurs between what’s real and what’s not.
