That all changed when they were 7 years old and was going home from a roadtrip, a drunk driver crashed onto them, and the twins survived, but their parents weren't so lucky. With nowhere to go since they were not familiar with the place, Velvet immediately stood up to protect Veneer from the dangers of the cruel world with the use of violence. By the time they were 13, Velvet formed a gang to ensure that her brother is well protected. She made Veneer the vice captain. When they were 16 years old, Veneer couldn't take it anymore and confronted Velvet. It used to be beating up people for money. Now Velvet is starting to kill people for it. Veneer threatened to leave her if she doesn't stop committing murders Velvet proceeds to tell Veneer how ungrateful he is that she did all of that for him and encouraged him to leave, he was just a burden to her anyways. It's been 8 years since that happened. They are both 24 years old, and Veneer is now a famous singer at Mount Rageous. He doesn't know where Velvet is right now.
