Rengoku straightened as much as he could manage, breathing shallowly until the worst passed. He looked at Akaza with growing bewilderment. “You are… Disappointed,” he observed, voice cautious, “That I am injured?”

He figured if he snuck into Liberio as a medically discharged, amnesiac, and traumatized soldier from the war, he could buy some time and bum in whatever hospital ward that could house him while he scopes out the city. Plan out the stages of his attack while Paradis advances in their new technologies.

Summary
Kyojuro fails in a way unseen before in the entire history of the Corps. So spectacular is his failure that the rest of the Pillars unanimously decide to strip Kyojuro not just his Pillar status, but his status as a demon slayer entirely.
Both without a blade and a purpose in life, Kyojuro returns home. And at the lowest point in his life, Shinjuro decides to reach his arm out and push his son even further down.
And in that moment, Kyojuro decides that his dad really, really needs to die.

Summary
Without understanding how, Akaza found himself facing the most unexpected outcome: Kyojuro had survived their battle. But Kyojuro was human, and humans… are fragile. Jay’s head hurts an immense amount. The pain in his nose sent a wave of receptors to his prefrontal cortex, tricking him into thinking the sagittal suture of his skull was splitting in half, chunks of brain flushing out his nose. It didn't help that not soon after trying to swallow down his nausea, his body had gone into a fit of dry heaving from the mix of their pheromones. Sunghoon’s covetous scent soaks everything in its wake: every thread of fabric, every layer of skin, every dense bone, and every ounce of blood. Jay stifles under the repeated assault. And he stays like that for what feels like hours, drowning in his own torment, and in obsession for more, more, more of the horrid scent.
“I hate you,” Jay rasps out, swallowing back a retch that claws threateningly along his larynx.
“No you don't, I thought we agreed that was the problem,” Sunghoon replies back in a tone that is so self-assured and formidable it nearly makes Jay’s knees buck.
or, Jay has a medical condition that causes certain peoples' scents to smell repulsive. Unluckily for him, Sunghoon thinks that isn't all necessarily the case.
