Summary
A dizzying tension seemed to fill Dick’s head the longer he stared, obscuring any semblance of a reasonable thought. None of it made sense: the bright red outfit where every other Shadow wore black, the way his sword looked both natural and out of place in his skilled hands, the fact that he seemed oddly…familiar.
Was he even real?
“Is that a sword in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?” The words slipped out before Dick could bite his tongue, and he found himself wishing the assassin would rethink his position on not killing him, if only to spare Dick any further humiliation. “That came out wrong…”
During a self-imposed sabbatical from the team, Dick encounters the strangest of mysteries in Gotham City involving the League of Shadows, a ninja dressed in Red, and a long-lost Robin he thought to be dead.

He painted on a face of innocence, waving to Bruce and Two-Face’s limping crawl in the distance. “I mean, they look pretty chummy over there. I know it’s been awhile, but didn’t they use to have a thing? I’m no expert, but it certainly looks like our dads could be reconnecting, if you know what I mean.”
Tim winked just to see the murderous glint in Chance’s eyes darken. Success.

And it’d proved nice to have a creature around that was so in synch with him, an extension of his own soul now bonded to a cat who could listen to his rants without judgement or sit on his chest to keep him grounded when the world felt like too much; a perfect companion who reminded Dick that there was more to life than just work.
However, every time he saw the traitor cat curling around Jason’s little finger like he couldn’t stand to be away from his touch, Dick would feel a sharp stab of resentment towards Damian. Because it meant Donna’s words were true after all. A part of him, a furry, little, sharp-nailed menace part of him, did have a bizarre attachment to Jason.

Closing his eyes against the memory of the man’s blood splattering against his chest, Dick felt his breath pick up rapidly. This was a mistake. He couldn’t do this. How could he possibly think this would work? Jason was too far gone, he didn’t want Dick’s help to get better, what’s the point when there was no Batman to condemn him for his actions, anyway?
