Summary
His shoes sank into the dewy grass every time he took a step, and then suddenly they didn’t anymore — stone beneath his feet. He was nearly at the Great Hall. He was breathing heavily, and it took every ounce of control to keep his magic from lashing out.
His mind kept skipping from one sound to the next — crickets on the tree he was passing, wind whipping over the hills, snakes gliding through the long grass. It was all so loud. But nothing was as loud as his heel hitting the stone, and his toes lifting from it again. The latter was heavier.

Summary
Harry felt something touch both sides of his head, gripping it tight enough to be uncomfortable, but not so tight as to hurt — or perhaps he was so used to pain that it didn't register. This time, he did try to scream, but the sound came out muffled, eaten by the darkness as soon as it emerged. The thing around his head grew warmer. When it was hot enough that he thought it would leave his skin red and raw, the first images started flashing in his mind.
They appeared faster and faster, one image after another, flickering in front of his eyes. When the last of the images faded from sight, the darkness was back to being just that — dark. The feeling of not being alone was gone, as was the heat around his head. All Harry was left with were the memories of a life he hadn't yet lived, and the sneaking suspicion that things would never be the same.

He’s not surprised to be hunted down. He is surprised to be taught to live by a DE who has reason to spill his tainted blood. A man he never expected to give him anything like a second chance or a happy ending.
[For readers from my main fandom, what you probably want to know about this rarepair is: intelligent and socially adverse pale and skinny bloke with dark eyes and hair gets railed by enormous, possessive blond from a rich family (both of whom have a taste for violence and rough sex). I am sure you can see the similarities.]
