Summary
The first time Bly raises it with Aayla they’re on Devaron, knee deep in mud and trying their best to not get blown up. The first time she revisits it, he’s just finished dressing down a batch of shinies for a kark-up that almost cost them their lives. Even he can appreciate the irony. Bringing a child into this environment is a great idea, no?
Bly is loath to share the General’s already precious time but watching his brothers with their Padawan Commanders has unlocked something deep in his chest. Something he's trying in vain not to acknlowedge, let alone name. Besides, between the two of them, how hard could training a padawan be?

“Manly?” he says.
Anakin opens the cupboard by the stove and brings out every mixing and serving bowl therein. He sets them in front of the drying rack and rolls his falling sleeves back up.
“You heard me,” he says.
(Anakin has gender questions, so he wakes Obi-Wan up at ass-o-clock to demand answers.)

He is pushed from one freighter to another, changing “owners” until he ends up in a newly-established spice mine on Stewjon.
The last thing he expects is to find his soulmate in this hell.
Maybe it would have been better if he never met them at all.
And then his grey world bursts out in colour. Not that there is much of it to see, apart from the angry red of the spice and deep black of his cell, but it does.
Which means that Jango’s soulmate touched him. And he doesn’t know who that was. He has to find them. Or not. Because who would have wanted a soulmate like him?***

"Ad'ika?" Buir says, stepping out of his modified Firespray. Anakin blinks out of his almost meditation and turns to look up at his buir. "Ready to go?"
Anakin smiles at him, checks to make sure his lightsaber is still hanging from his belt, then responds, "Yes, Buir. Let's go."

Amu stands in the middle of the room, her arms wrapped securely around a small child, swaying from side to side. Anakin doesn't recognize the lullaby she's singing, but it seems Buir does. He slips past Anakin and walks over to Amu. He wraps his arms around her from behind, and his warm voice joins hers.

Jango's eyebrows furrow as he watches Anakin go through some lightsaber katas. He's been running through the katas every day for the past three months. And Jango is...frustrated. "He doesn't understand," he says softly. Shmi steps forward and puts a hand on his shoulder.
"Then explain it to him, cyare, but you need to understand that if he still wants to be a Jedi after you do, then you need to let him. If you don't, he will never forgive you," Shmi declares.

Instead, when Anakin is nearly ten, a Jedi comes. Master Qui-Gon frees him and takes him away from Amu, and a vicious bitterness settles next to his heart, and Anakin isn't sure if it's towards his buir or the Jedi.

Jango misses Shmi, and their ad, like one would miss their heart, viciously and unendingly. Boba helps, makes it ache a little less. But at night, when Boba is asleep and the constant rain pounds against his window, Jango feels like he is drowning.
