Hisirdoux shook his head, drawing a sigh from the master wizard.
“Hisirdoux.” he said as if he was ordering the boy around, as if this was his workshop in the castle and not some cell in who-knew-where, “Making sure not to look during the… process was doable, but I must see what they’ve done.”
The moppet shook his head again, a motion so little it could’ve been mistaken for a tremble.
“Please,” Merlin asked, so tired, so drained, “Don’t make me pull your hand away.”
Reluctantly, Hisirdoux put his hand down.
That’s when he finally saw them.
If it weren’t for the little composure Merlin still had… the old wizard didn’t know how he would’ve reacted.

Merlin’s pale eyes flicked up, and it hit Jim just how…old Merlin looked. His eyes were tired, and his shoulders were hunched, as if he, too, carried the world upon his shoulders and had done so for a very long time.
The master wizard confessed, “I fought with a Trollhunter before, at the Battle of Killahead Bridge. Deya, was her name. I’ve heard the fool with six eyes refer to her as ‘Deya the Deliverer.’ I suppose she was a deliverer, for some. But she was not enough for me.”
Merlin trailed off, and his gaze fogged over again, as if his mind was somewhere else. “…I was not enough, that day.”

Marshal Commander Cody briefly debated destroying the karking holomessage before his General ever had a chance to hear it. He knew – he just knew – that General Obi-wan Kenobi was wont to do something incredibly di’kutla once he heard the message, and Cody just wasn’t up to dealing with more jetii osik than necessary today. He couldn’t quite make himself do it though – after all, Marshal Commander Cody was nothing if not a perfect soldier.
So instead, Cody found himself accompanying his jetii as he went to negotiate surrender with the Zygerrian who called himself Darts D'Nar.

Summary
In a society where all sorcerers are enslaved and stripped of their magic, 12-year-old Merlin is sold away from his mother to serve Arthur Pendragon, son of the wealthy Uther Pendragon of Pendragon Industries. Though the life of a slave is harsh and taxing, Merlin just might find comfort and even friendship in his new home. And Arthur may discover that the system he's always accepted may not be as simple as he thought. Can the two of them bridge the social gap and change their world for the better?
(No Merthur, just lots of close friendship. Eventual Arthur/Gwen I think, but it won't be the focus. Contains abuse and violence towards slaves, although nothing too graphic. I'll add appropriate tags as I go.)
