His eyes feel wide as plates, his hands just slightly borderline clammy, and he squints even more at the photos popping on the screen. The room has gone dead silent, and he watches as photos of Spider-Man holding back trains and saving people from street fights and pulling cats out of trees is shown. Spider-Man.
Ah. Ah. Clint audibly lets out an oh.
Peter's identity is revealed—and people he'd never expect come to his aid.

That's how you operate these days; You sell your services to the highest bidder from corrupt government officials to cartels and don't stop until you're covered in ash and the screaming of your victims has left your heart ringing hollow and deafened the meek voice of the person you were. The bounties and warrants on your head are as meaningless as the blood money you receive, only pushing you to move and offer your grievous gifts to more buyers, leaving bloodstained boot prints behind as you walk without true purpose.
You've been able to avoid capture. Until now. You knew your current buyers would betray you, the signs were obvious, and you knew the only way you were going into custody was in a body bag. You had just hoped you'd be able to take the backstabbers with you before the cold muzzle of a gun was pressed to your temple. U̶n̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶l̶a̶s̶t̶ ̶t̶i̶m̶e̶.
You're still not sure how that turned into you joining a military taskforce full of actual monsters.

“…Thanks, I’ll do that,” said Clint, slipping in the photo.
“Want me to tape it up for you?” Another kid raised an elbow helpfully, from which dangled a length of cellophane tape that appeared to originate from within the joint.
“Uh, no, I’m good, thanks.”
“Aw man, nobody wants anything taped,” muttered the kid, turning to slink back to wiping tables.

His research brings him to New Mexico where he finds a long abandoned laboratory that may have the technology he needs to find his answer. The technology is a bit outdated sure, 1969 was 105 years ago, but the notes left by a man who signed them as "Engineer" prove that some minds do work ahead of their own time. Winston wishes he could have been able to thank this man for the help he provided. However, neither of them realize effect they have on each other until they meet... Over Time...

Did he exactly know what his new job was and why he was being shipped off to an foreign state? Absolutely not. But, the money he was offered in the letter that regarded him was too much to pass up, and the thought of sending his paychecks to his ma to help her live the rest of her life in comfort was more than welcoming.
If one thing, he knew, was that the job would require his speed and he'd get training for a few days until he actually starts his job.
The little details meant nothing, he just needed to make his ma proud. It was rare for a prey to get offered a job like this. Normally he'd be working for a low end job just to keep the water running.
It wasn't until the little details DID mean something.
