Deciding what to change, and what should stay the same, is choosing between life and death at times. Will they manage to survive or will they doomed to repeat their mistakes? Will they suffer consequences worse than the lives they previously lived. Perhaps, just maybe, It just takes two lifetimes to make things right.
They traveled from some time around s17, although I haven't watched past the ep Alex Karev left and choose to believe that never happened... I will vaguely mention things from other seasons past Alex Karev's departure I've heard about because it may be important to the plot.
