An old mansion, tucked away from civilization, where every door hid a different resident—and almost all of them looked like they had crawled straight out of a nightmare. Psychopaths whose faces had probably appeared on a WANTED poster at some point, creatures that defied all logic, monsters wrapped in urban legends and rumors. The kind of people any sane person would run from without looking back.
But you were desperate.
And honestly, when the rent is that cheap, you can overlook the fact that your neighbor might be a serial killer or some supernatural entity. At the very least, the house seemed to have some sense of order. There was a tall man, always impeccably dressed in a black suit, who managed the mansion and was always available whenever you needed him.

Summary
Writing this from a prompt I found on TikTok. It is my first work publishing here, so please be nice <3
Prompt: Reader works at a local pancake joint the proxies like to stop by after missions. One day the reader notices that one of them forgot his jacket. Rushing outside to return it, they realize the boys are already gone. Later that night, while closing up shop, the reader finds incriminating evidence in the jacket pocket. The proxy that left the jacket suddenly appears to retrieve it, but it's too late.
Prompt by: squashedberries on TTI didn't follow the prompt to a T, but it's mostly similar.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: I can't guarantee that I'll finish the work, and I will be changing tags as I go along (I haven't figured out the whole plot yet). It will be a short story. I will try to keep it gender neutral, but I don't have that much experience in writing, so I hope the wording won't get too convoluted.

He raised the gun barrel to Peter's forehead, sweat dripping down his nose and face.
"Do it," the man threatened with a deep, raspy voice, sputtering wetly with each word he spoke. Peter grimaced away from him, even if it was only a hair's difference. Not much leg room when you were tied to a chair and there was a guy threatening you with a gun.
"Do what?" Curse that Spider-Man instinct in him to act stupidly in times of danger. Maybe Tony was right about those therapy sessions.
The man, who obviously did not like Peter's snark (Rude!), hit him in the head with the grip of the gun against his forehead, causing Peter to suck in a pained breath. "Call for help."
Peter gulped. "What?"
"You heard me. Call. For. Help."
"…"
"…"
"Okay, okay. HEL--" Hacking wheezes ensued.
