"I did not think it would be this hard to resist …” he muttered, mostly to himself. It was English, so Shane was supposed to hear it. He licked his parted lips, like he was fighting the urge to taste.
It wasn't playing fair, but Shane had been watching and learning. Mrs Rozanova had compromised. She had found a way to make peace with her husband's proclivities. If it was really up to Mrs Rozanova, there would be no omega and no baby. Shane reached down and covered what he could of himself with one hand. "I'm sorry," he whispered, "my body is betraying me. I can't help my instincts."
Rozanov's fingers were clamped around his wrist in an instant, removing the offending hand. "It is natural," Rozanov reasoned.
"Does she know?" Shane asked, hoping it wasn't too far.
"Know what?" asked Rozanov, meeting Shane's eyes again.
"What you did? What we did?"
With a slow shake of his head, he confirmed the suspicions. "Nope."

Fair question! I didn’t go looking for them or anything. Doing some side work for a local moving company (just boring documentation thank god. I’m much too frail for manual labor!!!) and according to my boss it was left behind by a client ‘‘forever ago” and was never claimed. Knowing him that probably means they didn’t deliver it a decade ago and the client never called looking for it. Summary
Rose volunteers for a nonprofit that rescues sex-trafficked omegas, and Shane thinks it's a great cause. He even attends their fundraising galas.
Then, one night, Rose calls to ask for a favor: She wants Shane to let a recently-rescued male omega live with him. In his apartment.
His name is Ilya, Rose explains, and the thing is, despite omega hormone levels, he acts and smells just like an alpha. He can't keep staying in an omega group home because he's scaring the other omegas and endangering the staff.
But he could live with Shane, Rose insists. "You're a big strong alpha hockey player, so he can't intimidate you physically. But also he needs to feel safe, which he can with you, because you're not like other alphas." She pauses. "You know?"
By which she means Shane has never had a full rut, his scent glands barely work, he can't form a knot, and he has no interest in sticking his dick in anyone. Which, whatever. It's fine.
But if being a failure as an alpha means he can help this omega, Ilya, who's apparently as much of a biological anomaly as Shane is…
Shane says yes.
And maybe it's a stupid decision. But he knows that it's also the right one.
