Art done for sillydegu's ACBB 2025 fic Golden Scales, Golden Heart:
In the heat of battle against Morgana and her army, Merlin discovers hereto unknown Dragonlord powers. With the army defeated Merlin flees Camelot, knowing he won't be able to return home until he figures out his to reverse his transformation into a dragon.
Gwaine last saw Merlin where the dragon appeared, he's devastated to realise Merlin is missing once the battle is over. Presumed kidnapped (and feared dead), Gwaine is only too eager to accept Arthur's orders to track down and slay the dragon, and bring Merlin home.
Realising Merlin and the dragon are one and the same, Gwaine has to unlearn his prejudices before he can accept Merlin for all he is.

Summary
The knights had sprung to their feet. Percival and Elyan had pulled him back, while Arthur and Leon stood in front. Lancelot and Gwaine were flanking them, the latter showing none of the alcohol sickness he had been prior.
But Mordred’s eyes were fixated on the wall and the text therein.
The left option stood there, upon the wall, like a tantalizing invitation, a riddle within a mystery; the right option seemed like both a warning and a reprieve from the unknown.
Mordred suddenly found himself unable to breathe.
OR:After waking up in an unfamiliar and barren room, Arthur and the Knights are forced into solving a mystery which only brings about more questions than it answers. Worst of all, Mordred fears the secrecy of sorcery will only get more jeopardized.

Arthur scrambled back in surprise as a figure sat up, shaking broken moss and bark out of its hair and sputtering nonsense.
It was a human.
Or Arthur thought it was a human. It had black hair, pale skin, and big ears.
His eyes opened.
They were made of a brilliant gold that looked as though it had survived a hundred centuries and could survive thousands more. Wisdom, unspeakable. Power, unbreakable.
He was fae.
“Why are you dollopheads all staring at me? Is there something wrong with my ears?”
OR
Merlin claims they've met before, but Arthur doesn't remember the pesky fae at all. He also can't figure out why he isn't dead yet or how to get the idiot to quit following him around.
