She jolted, whipping her head in the direction of the voice. There was… someone, at her bedside, looking at her with a glaring frustration that she wasn’t quite sure she deserved. He, she thought hysterically, looked like an adult who never quite left his emo phase. His hair was kind of cool—mostly black, with white tips on the frontmost strands that must have required at least four packets of bleach. But he was wearing a cravat for some reason, and she had to admit it lost him some points. In her opinion, it went out of style for a reason.
Or; after losing her memories during an assignment, Higuchi needs to learn what a mafia member acts like. She can admit it could have gone better.

Summary
If someone told fifteen-year-old Chuuya that he was playing Osamu Dazai’s love interest in a film, he would’ve lied about the amount of butterflies that he got in his stomach upon hearing that.
Now, though, telling twenty-two year old Chuuya that same thing? He has no reason to lie about the nausea that rolls through his gut.
And the idea of fake dating him makes it ten times worse.

“Sure, why not?” Chuuya sorta counts on this every time he transfers, whenever he doesn’t get a tour, he gets lost and ends up being thirty minutes late to class. His parents aren’t too fond of being late, so it’s preferred that it’s kept to a minimum.
The teacher nodded and walked away before returning with that bandaged kid Chuuya sat by. He couldn’t tell if this guy looked annoyed or happy.
“Dazai here has volunteered to show you around,” the teacher (Chuuya hadn’t bothered to learn his name yet) smiled at the bandaged kid, Dazai, whose smile was now obviously forced.
“Really now Mori? I volunteered? Of my own free will? You don’t have to lie to the poor new student like that,” Dazai spoke very passive aggressively, “he might think I actually want help him!” What a douche.

Almost.
Chuuya Nakahara was widely known throughout the school as someone not to mess with. His short temper and bad attitude have landed him in quite a few fights. Fights that he always won. Because of this, he was the second most respected person attending Yokohama High School.
Being in second place was infuriating to Chuuya. So, while he had never talked to him personally, Chuuya hated Dazai.
So when their art teacher choose them as partners for their mid-term project, Chuuya could not be more pissed off.

This is the closest thing he’ll get, although his selfish human heart shrivels at the thought of it. But if he could continue to have Chuuya in his life, and even let himself pretend that Chuuya loved him a smidge more than what was true, to let himself believe that Chuuya wanted him the way he wanted Chuuya, then he would take being left on the sidelines.
And now he was going to watch the person he loved more than anything be given away to some undeserving random who would never know how long Dazai had suffered in silence. They would never know how long Dazai had waited for Chuuya.
And perhaps Dazai would keep waiting.
He knows Chuuya isn’t selfish like he is, he knows Chuuya would never ask him to wait. But god, years down the line Chuuya will be happy with somebody else and Dazai still doesn’t think he’ll be ready to move on.
