This fic is inspired by Heart of Glass by javelinbk - basically it's what happened when I wondered 'what if John kept a diary during those months?'
It'll only make sense if you read HOG first, and you should do that anyway because it's one of the best fics on here - touching, funny, realistic and heartwrenching. Javelin has kindly given me their blessing to publish this derivative work, which I'm very grateful for.

Summary
John Lennon is infamous in Liverpool for being an obnoxious, trouble-making deviant. Worst of all, she's a girl that dresses like a boy, uses a boy's name, and started a skiffle band. And now she's influencing other girls to act just like her. Paul and George, for instance, who recently joined her band and "changed" their names. Unfortunately, Paul realizes she has some unholy feelings for her best friend around the same time that John got a boyfriend that forced her to quit the band and start acting like a "real girl".
(FYI, no one is trans, sorry to disappoint. John, Paul, and George are cis-girls who use boy names and cross dress because they "want the same respect that men get". I'm aware this is typically trans-men behavior but I intend for this to be a dramatic form of protest behavior you'd expect from the early Beatles back when they were rebelling from their parents and narrow-minded social conventions. John is basically revolutionary girl Utena to me, Paul is a hopeless lesbian, and George just admires John and wants to be like her.)
