Modern-day AU...it's not clear whether or not powers exist, but if they do, they certainly aren't obvious. Erik Lensherr is a profoundly disturbed twelve-year-old who hears Charles Xavier as a voice in his head. Things you will find in this story: an out-of-control teenage Tony Stark, a green card marriage, and a sinister plot (not necessarily in that order).
(P.S. If you like Tony/Steve, just wait a few chapters...it's in there in spades. If you like Erik & Charles, patience is not necessary.)

You ever read a fic about some situation or relationship dynamic that makes you depressed because you have to acknowledge that yeah, that’s probably how it would work out in real life, and it kinda ruins all the other stories that end more positively? This is that fic. It’s not dark or angst; it’s just Too Real. Ends kind of abruptly but does a great job getting there. Also the best (and only) backstory I’ve seen for Jason Stryker, and one of the first stories I ever read with a trans PoV kid.
