Arthur watched, unable to fully comprehend the events that had seemingly just crashed and burned in front of him rather than calmly unfold. He turned to look at the other knights who only shrugged as Mordred sank lower into his seat, lips pressed into a pout as he picked at his food.
“I…” He started and paused, taking a moment to gather his thoughts “Why do you want Merlin to like you so badly?” He finally sighed. Mordred stopped playing with his food, glancing up before looking at the door the servant in question had exited through
“Because he’s Merlin.” He said as if that provided any sort of answer.
Arthur didn’t deserve this. He did his best to be a good person. Maybe this was some kind of divine intervention saying he needed to up his charity game. He needed to give the lower town a bigger tax break or something. Perhaps ride out and save three more damsels than usual.
"He has a point," Gwaine piped up as he inhaled another mead "He is Merlin."

Dick, just fired as Robin, with a replacement lined up, doesn't believe one word she says, until she starts being honest. Until he sees a way to handle his hurt feelings.
Three years later, she's back. Not broken, not quite as desperate, and yet honest, again. Honest how she's afraid of her position as heir to the League, with an actual male heir around. Honest about her wish to get rid of said heir.
Dick has no choice, not really. He has to take Damian in. It's his son, after all.Fic is fully written and will be uploaded chapter by chapter. Upload every Wednesday and Sunday. Which means this will be done... December 31st, if I do daily uploads in the Christmas weeks. Dick crouches to be at Damian’s eye level, and his voice suddenly takes on a brisk tone, one Wally associates so strongly with being assigned patrol routes that he twitches. “Wally, this is Damian, Damian, this is Wally. Wally is one of my very best friends. He is very important to me. You aren't going to stab him. This isn’t a debate,” Dick says, when Damian raises an eyebrow, “Or a rule. You can’t physically do it. He is much faster than you.”
“I know what his powers are,” Damian says, sounding annoyed, and also like he considers them to be a fun challenge.
“I would like it to be a rule,” Wally volunteers.
