Summary
The students who died during the killing school semester have woken up. The escaped survivors have woken up and are taken to a room of their deceased peers.
They're told none of it was real; it was all a simulation. Team Danganronpa has graciously provided them with room and board, three meals a day and an open snack cupboard, and mandatory counselling sessions for the next six months.
No one is thrilled to accept "help" from the same people who forced them into that ludicrous killing game, but a few are even suspicious of this so-called help. Why aren't they allowed beyond the gates? Is the goal of the therapy really to help them recover from their trauma? What really happens at the end of the six months?

He inhales, the smell of city pollution hitting his nose. His legs swing happily over the edge of the Danganronpa building.
Shuichi won't deny the fact he's a city kid, he'd spent his entire life in one. But when he closes his eyes he doesn't see himself cooped up in some apartment complex, instead it's a small cottage. Well lived in with furniture worn down with love.
"Whatcha doin?" A voice asks from behind him.
"Thinking." Shuichi responds, eyes still shut. Sitting in the living room of his perfect home, is someone with purple hair. It is not who the Shuichi in Danganronpa would think it was.

A repressed awkward cough slipped out of his mouth, and then Kokichi couldn't take it anymore. It was then followed by small quiet croaks until it turned into a string of continuing coughs and it didn't stop until he started wheezing. He only managed to stop his coughing fit by the time he ran out of breath.
When he finishes, there's a momentarily awkward pause on the other side of the call. Kokichi coughed in his hand once more, now voluntarily, to break the ever-growing silence.
"That was just, uh… an audio of a cough that I accidentally played."

Ouma feels reminiscent of a ghost on Shuichi’s bad days. He talks and laughs, makes biting comments and dramatic gestures. He only appears during class and no one talks about him easily, not after what happened. Sure he’s changed since the game, but he’s not the only one; they all have their own problems to deal with.
Still, Ouma is the one Shuichi has talked to the least since then. They’ve barely spoken at all, actually, and Shuichi guesses that that's one of the things that keeps Ouma feeling less like a person and more like an illusion. Barriers, between all of them. Verbal and nonverbal and emotional and tangible and everything in between. They've all changed, but none of them are willing to talk about it.
For example, the gloves Ouma has taken to wearing. Is that a barrier, too?

They aren’t particularly in a relationship or anything but Kokichi is sure that Shuuichi likes him and that he’s been open enough to Shuuichi to make the other catch onto the fact that he likes him back.
Counting all of those, it'd be normal for him to expect that the detective would bring him a grandeur bouquet of roses and one of those expensive looking heart boxes of chocolate right? Maybe have Kaede play the piano as Shuuichi serenaded him.
Which is why Kokichi has a small box of some fairly nicer looking chocolates hidden in his bag on Valentine’s day to give to Shuuichi if and only if Shuuichi gives him chocolates first.
