Tashi not saying she loves him back has always been something that’s lingered in the air between them, but they’ve never really spoken about it. True to his word, Art has never made it an issue, but even so, part of her has felt guilty for not saying it. But how could she? She’s thought about it for years–even wanted to say it. But every time she’s tried to, it just hasn’t come out, and so she’s let it rest. The one thing she’s truly ever loved was something she never hesitated to talk about. She’d told anyone and everyone who would listen how much she loved tennis, and then when that had been so tragically taken away from her, how could she possibly think of saying she loved anything else? Tashi tells Lily she loves her, but that’s her daughter. Art? That’s different, and the thought of trying to tell him so makes her heart race and her stomach churn.
Or: Four times that Art has told Tashi he loves her, and she hasn't said it back. Until now.

Clarke desperately needs to get away. Mainly to finish her series of paintings, but also to nurse the sting of a still aching break up. It’s not easy having a soulmark and dating someone without one, so needless to say it’s an ugly breakup and she just wants to get over it. When Octavia offers her family’s small cabin to her for the week, Clarke immediately jumps on it.
Too bad Octavia forgot to run it by her older brother––who is also hiding out there to get his own work done after a bad breakup.
But maybe fate has a hand in things more than either of them are prepared to accept.

Despite his five year sobriety, Bellamy spends most of his time at bar. He doesn't mean to stumble across Clarke, nor does he intend to become her sober companion and sponsor. But he does, and he's intent on helping her through her alcohol addiction. However, in him helping her, he does not except her to heal him.
Or, Bellamy becomes Clarke's sober companion/sponsor. He's not exactly sure what the rules are, but he's pretty sure he's not supposed to fall in love with her.

The surviving delinquents are sitting around the dropship, knees pulled to their chests, heads buried between their knees. Clarke can’t blame them for looking so weary, really. They’re too young to have just fought a battle, too young to know war so personally, too young to live with the fact that they just finished incinerating hundreds of grounders, hundreds of people.
Death is everywhere on the ground; it’s unavoidable. It’s remarkable that so many of them had survived for this long.

Bellamy hesitated, let himself hold his breath. "Yeah," he said on his exhale, careful not to disturb the night air. "Yeah, it's what people do." If she heard the sadness in his voice, she didn't question it.
And when she kissed him again, this time with all of her anguish, his chest hurt. But he couldn't deny her anything. And after all, he wasn't that guy.

Bellamy was self aware enough to know what he could and what he couldn’t have. He could have her trust him and lean on him and depend on him, but he couldn’t have all of her - all the parts he craved. The parts he dreamed about at night. It wasn’t all depraved sexual fantasy encounters - he wanted to kiss her mouth, chaste and easy before he left for a hunt or before she went to work in Medical. He wanted to fall asleep wrapped around her small frame. He wanted to wake up to her sleepy smile and soft curves.
He just wanted Clarke to let him love her
