Xaden Riorson thought he had figured out how to survive in this place. Now in his final year at Basgiath War College, he’s risen to the rank of Wingleader. He is focused on one thing: getting every kid of the rebellion bonded to a dragon. Then the real work can begin.
But he hadn’t counted on Violet Sorrengail, the General’s daughter, entering the Rider’s Quadrant. She’s not supposed to be here and she’s about to throw every plan he has made into chaos. Can he trust her? And more importantly, can he trust himself?
This follows the dialogue and events of Rebecca Yarros’s Fourth Wing, retold from Xaden’s perspective. This was written prior to the release of Iron Flame, so all theories and speculation are my own and unconfirmed. It's my best guess at exploring how Xaden might have felt throughout the story and features new scenes with Liam, Garrick, Imogen, Sgaeyl and Tairn. Major plot spoilers from the very first chapter.

Summary
For the past seventeen years, the Earth has been scourged by an extraterrestrial alien race known as the Combine. The remaining humanity is bound in shackles while the planet is sapped from its precious resources. However, a covert group of rebels still persists, aiming to defeat the Combine and restore their freedom.
Natsu, a proficient Resistance soldier, helps escort citizens from the Combine-controlled City 17 into safer regions, while his older brother Zeref works restlessly in his laboratory to create a functioning teleport. If that succeeds, the evacuation operations would be much smoother, and Natsu and his team wouldn’t have to constantly put their lives at risk.
The process stands still until the missing piece is found and delivered to the team by a scientist named Lucy. But at the same time, long-lost forces awaken and join the fray, causing the Combine to launch a full-term attack for wiping out the Resistance. Let the war end in either total victory or their extinction – no further compromise shall they allow.

Summary
They Say Fireflies are the Souls of Soldiers who died in War - that the Earth stars are another form of brave men and women. A thing to be worshipped. However, the girl who spends her life surrounded by the Souls is feared. It's said her blonde hair and elegant body entices men, convinces them to join her glowing army. Her soft chocolate eyes and silk voice lure you in with trust. But of course, these are just story's from men and women who saw a small child playing with the Souls as though they were friends - no one asked the maiden her side.
Natsu Dragneel is a small drop in the ocean of technician's in the Steam Punk world. He travels in search of the one who taught him everything he knows, the Great Fire Dragon Igneel, and rarely visits a city twice. But the city of Magnolia is the place he first placed eyes on her when he was young; and the place he finds himself pulled to once again. For in Magnolia there's a girl who's different from the rest, a girl who dreams higher than the world allows. The Firefly girl.
