Shadow smirked to himself as he grabbed the two sides of Sonics chest to pin him down, yet just as he was about to shoot a taunting remark down at the other, he paused.
The loose singlet that Sonic was wearing had gaping arm holes, enough for Shadows hands to find purchase on the tape across his chest rather than the fabric of the shirt or the familiar tan fur.

“Bruno.” Wilfredo pulled him close. Desperately trying to reach the man through the shell he had formed around him.
“I just, I just wanted to pretend, just for a moment, that it was ok. That I could just be this. That it was ok to just be this.” Bruno confessed.
“Listen to me.” Wilfredo demanded. “I would never change a single thing about you. You are perfect as you are.”
Bruno stared at him dumbfounded but said nothing. Wilfredo let out a tired sigh. He loosened his grip and rested his forehead on Bruno’s. Trembling against the rage he struggled to contain. This burn, it hurt, but it kept him alive. He needed Bruno to feel it.
“I know it feels like the world has no place for you. Por favor, Te lo ruego, don’t ever give up looking for one. If you can’t find a place then make one, pero nunca te rindas.”
Wilfredo opened his eyes again to take in those shimmering emeralds. “This world was made for all of us. You have a right to be here. Never doubt that.”

Modern no-magic AU in which Mirabel is the only average kid in a gifted family, and Bruno is the mentally struggling guy we don’t talk about. We love to see “Mirabel brings Bruno back to the family again but a little to the left this time” :D
[Also just clarifying that there will be no diagnoses made in the actual story except maybe the OCD because it’s confirmed canon. Just tagged autistic Bruno because 1) I generally read him as autistic and 2) I’m kinda putting a magnifying glass up to his autistic-coded traits in this one. His mental health is also just generally gonna be worse than in canon because of the more realistic setting and differences in tone from a Disney movie.]

After almost getting caught in his last scam, he retreated back to his old village to hide from authorities. This was where he heard of the hidden town called Encanto behind the mountains nearby… and he learned that the head of the most influential family in the area had a son who has been missing for years.
This is a perfect opportunity to use his superb acting skills and prophetic powers to steal some inheritance money.
