An alternative to GI Jeff where Jeff instead has a hallucination with the very broad structure of A Christmas Carol in which the ghosts are trying to convince him to stop pushing Annie away.

Summary
At the beginning of his sixth year at Greendale, Jeff Winger suddenly disappears into the night. He leaves no note and tells no one where he is going -The police, in their search, come up with nothing. Annie and the study group are left without him, and eventually they graduate from Greendale without him too.
Three years later and an FBI agent, Annie resolves to finally find him. Haunted by past memories and what could've been, she's determined find the closure he denied the both of them. But once he is found, things don't become any less complicated. After all, what do you say to someone who ran away for so long, without a single word of goodbye?

Abed reunites all of his friends to catch up in person, Jeff is the first one to say "yes" wishing to see Annie there.

“Well, I’ve got a little surprise for you,” Jeff smiled at Annie. “I booked us a weekend away in the Rustic Cabin Centre in the Greendale wood,” He said.
Okay, so Britta was a bit surprised by that. She’d never gotten a weekend away with Jeff, she’d barely gotten to actually sleep in his bed. Maybe this wasn’t just a sex thing-
“So, plenty of time for sleep ins and being naked without anyone to catch us,” Jeff smirked - and nope, just a sex thing.
“Aw Jeff that’s-“ But Britta had to stop listening. She was furious. She was incensed. She couldn’t believe Jeff would just give into his urges like this, and potentially damage Annie and in turn, the group.
And now they were going to sneak off this weekend. How long had they been sneaking around? How long had they been lying to the group?
Well, she’d have to see about that.Jeff and Annie mid season four are in an established relationship and trying their best to keep it private - and doing a rubbish job at it. So rubbish, that the whole study group manages to gatecrash their weekend away.

"Wow Troy and Abed meant it when they said they were going to do the protective big brothers thing," Jeff chuckles as he sees the fifth text light up his phone when they pull in out the front of Annie's building. Annie giggles.
"All these men in my life trying to protect me," She sighs wistfully. "You'd think I couldn't handle myself," She rolls her eyes. Jeff squeezes her knee.
"I'm very aware you can handle yourself, I do the protective thing for my own sanity," He promises.A series of scenarios in which Jeff looks after/is protective of/possessive of Annie. I basically had a whole heap of ideas and figured they could all go together. This can either be read as a series of one shots, or as a continuing fic - I've put them all in correct order if you want to read it like that, but they can be read stand alone as well.
Some of the chapters are darker/sadder than others, I will put warnings in the chapters summaries beforehand as a warning.

“Abed would kill us if we followed that trope of not knowing what they are, they’re zombies,” He tries to joke, to make her smile, but it comes off desperate and forced, and neither of them smile.Annie and Jeff wake up the day after Pierce's funeral to find the world on the brink of collapse due to a zombie Apocalypse. Unable to find the rest of their friends, they come together to try and survive. But everything is not what it seems, and as more and more things start to unravel, Jeff and Annie have to find comfort and strength in the one person left that they trust - each other.
*Major Character Death warning is for Pierce, and because it's a zombie story - there's a lot of dead characters*
