Summary
It’s as Shen Qingqiu crushes the last little fluttering Iridescent Gem Beetle that the mother decides to introduce herself by burrowing up out of the earth like a cicada the size of an elephant. He just barely has time to resign himself to an even more exhausting fight than the last one - with no rest point in between to chug stamina potions or anything! Honestly, what poor game design! - when the stranger appears.
He charges into the scene out of nowhere like an absolute bullshit deus ex machina, all dark, flowing hair and robes, whirling around to stab at the Mother Beetle with a gleaming white sword, making it screech and rear back in pain. Seriously, Shen Qingqiu feels like he’s suddenly trapped in a video game cutscene introducing the new companion! Where’s the background music and camera close up? Who is this guy?

AU in which right after Shen Qingqiu self-destructed as a final act of kindness to Luo Binghe in Huayue City, the resulting clash between his qi and the recoil from Xin Mo affected the SYSTEM. In order to troubleshoot itself, it prompted Shen Qingqiu to accept a one-time filler event. Then it dumped him in the middle of his apartment, in his old life as Shen Yuan with zero cultivation for the next three days. And it brought Luo Binghe with him, too. Motherfucker.
The SYSTEM was down. Shen Qingqiu was in his own home, in his own very frail human body, with zero cultivation, and with the protagonist he literally died for in his bedroom. They were stuck together for three days.
Three days.
Well. Who needed the circus? He was the entire act by himself!

“We’re?” he repeats, raising an eyebrow. Liu Qingge’s face is even pinker.
“Yes,” Liu Qingge says, again as if he’s having a duel with words and is losing. “Come on. I’ll choose one if you choose one.”... or, persuaded by Liu Qingge to choose a new disciple, Shen Qingqiu chooses a little, young child. Oh my God this is so good!! SQQ is in a teenager body with no memories of transmigration and no memories of the conference. He's getting SJs original memories and traumas back and everyone is treating him like glass. He thinks Binghe is dead but uses his sword since it bonded with him.
Love this! I'm excited to see SJ merge with SY and they'll become something new together. The sword metaphors are very good !

He decided it would be interesting to investigate the creepy plague, ignore the small child determinedly trying to send them away, and get immediately infected by who- or whatever the carrier of the plague is!
As if that weren’t enough, when he and Gongyi Xiao split up to investigate the brothel, the first door Shen Qingqiu opens reveals not only the body of the woman who died here, but also releases a burst of something—dust? Pollen? A powdery makeup, even?—directly in Shen Qingqiu’s face.
or: Shen Qingqiu, Secret Omega Extraordinaire, has finally burned through all his luck. Regarding that particular secret, at least.
