With nowhere left to go and a deep mistrust of adult intervention, he escapes to London for a night where things, naturally, get worse. He heard Vernon’s lumbering steps entering the hall, accompanied by the sharp click of Petunia’s heels, but he raced to reach the door first. A wide grin stretched his cheeks to their limits as he threw open the door.
And the smile fell right off his face.
Shrouded in darkness, fog swirling around the hem of his long, dark robes, face as dour as ever, and hair casting cruel shadows across his face, stood Severus Snape.
