Mr. Dubs, the enthusiastic, funny, and lovable art teacher with big brown eyes and a large smile never fails to brighten up students' days. His openness and maybe a little bit of oversharing are hilarious and a breath of fresh air amongst all the stress.
They know the place he grew up in; they know that he usually had eggs on toast for breakfast; they know that he was a horse girl when he was a child.
He's also incredibly fun to tease.
But one thing, the one thing they didn't know about him was who his husband was.
And why he couldn’t be normal whenever the mega-famous actor Etho Slab was mentioned!

“How do I know?” The kid spits, knife raised again, trembling violently. His eyes are wet, angry and pleading and piercing right down into Grian’s soul.
“...If I can fly?” Grian asks, confused. His heart is beating fast.
The boy shakes his head violently, taking a lurching step forward, now only a few feet away. Something about his eyes almost seems familiar, but the thought is fleeting. The knife looks sharp. The child is crying, slow tears that barely have an effect on his voice.
“No,” the kid says forcefully. “How do I know you’re not a zombie?”
OR,
A young Scar fresh from a world overtaken by zombies stumbles through The Rift onto Hermitcraft, and is quickly adopted by the rest of the Hermits, who have no idea who he actually is.

“… What was that?” Gem stared at him like she had seen a ghost. Her jaw might as well have been touching the cobblestone and her eyes looked about to bulge out of her skull. She had turned about 5 shades whiter.
“Oh, it's Scar’s newest bit,” Grian answered casually. It was definitely nothing that warranted that sort of reaction, didn't even make top 5 of craziest things Scar had done. Maybe not even top 10. He flattened the shopping district overnight just a few weeks ago.
“His newest bit…” Gem shook her head, recomposing herself. “Can you please explain what exactly is the bit?” Before Grian could reply, she added: “From the very beginning, with as many details as possible. What is wrong with you two?”(or: Scar rehearses to get the best love confession)

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

He tries to say something, but Bdubs cuts him off before he can start, “I know you’re gonna go down this deep path like- ‘OH! Martin Stanley came up with this thing, he was a great engineer for his time he did this and this OH here’s some concept art!!!’ Two hours later, WHAT’S IT CALLED?!?”
Scar… didn’t know what to say. He doesn’t know if he should say anything, really.

The moment is perfect. He feels warm and Grian is trembling softly against him. It’s just them, together, so close. All he has to do is get the ring.He hesitates.
Jellie scratches Scar’s leg.
Grian starts laughing as Scar groans against him in pain, all while Jellie whines for attention, already drawing back her paw for another attack.

Grian’s eyes fly open and he freezes, looking over to see Scar leaning against the doorway with an eyebrow raised and an amused look on his face. There’s a glint in his eyes too that -- oh, that’s really not helping.
He quickly throws the blanket over himself, though it’s certainly far too late for that. Scar’s already seen, but at least he doesn’t look disgusted.
