Summary
The tadpole stage is intense, everyone tells you that. You wake up ten times a night just to check that their little gills are still fluttering. But just wait, because when they start hopping—that's when the REAL trouble starts!

Summary
This story was my contribution to the Star Wars: Rebels tribute zine (swrebelszine.tumblr.com). It's my attempt to write a Sabine story in the "official" style--that is, a story that wouldn't be out of place in a Disney-branded collection. Set after the end of Rebels, Sabine intervenes on behalf of a young street artist on Garel, and passes on some hard-won wisdom.
Thanks to gondalsqueen for her insanely helpful beta reading skillz!

A Little Less Attitude and a Little More Altitude by ShannonPhillips
Fandom Star Wars: Rebels
07 Apr 2019
Summary
A collection of stories exploring the romance between Kanan and Hera of Star Wars: Rebels. Many of the fics (especially the "Fade to Black" and "Fade to Black and Back" series) are explicitly smutty. There are also a few (non-explicit) stories that center on relationships between other characters. For more Star Wars: Rebels stories, see my AUs and Out-takes series.

I'm importing the fics I've written based on the female Smuggler storyline for the Star Wars: the Old Republic MMORPG, just to have a convenient place to archive them. This series will not be regularly updated, although there may be more once Corso returns in the game.

Summary
This is a collection of my Star Wars: Rebels stories that aren't set in what I think of as the Fadeverse ("A Little Less Attitude and a Little More Altitude"). Some are very divergent AUs, others simply for one reason or another no longer fit with my personal SWR headcanon. Most still center on the relationship between Kanan and Hera.

Summary
"Look, the whole of London's cracking up," she told him. "I'm finding it hard enough to work as it is without my commute being screwed up by the buses going on strike, and half my books turning into birds. That angel is wrecking everything, but in particular, my life - and you're too busy hating yourself to open your eyes and deal with it. I'm telling you, it has to stop."
"Is that all still happening?" Crowley said vaguely. "But I found him."
"Oh my God, you can tell you don't commute," Anathema said. "The buses went on strike, Mr. Crowley."
"That's perfectly normal for London. You'll learn."
"You're not listening! Not the drivers, the buses. They're organising - meeting in secret, holding little candlelight vigils. Nobody else really knows what's going on - everyone's just assuming it's, like, general TfL incompetence or something - but it's only a matter of time. So what are you going to do about it?"
"Er... have they submitted a list of their demands?" Crowley said helplessly.

Bookmarker's Notes
God it's gorgeous. Like, not perfectly canon, but perfectly IN CONVERSATION with canon. I need to re-read because random lines keep bubbling up from my subconscious when I need them, and I'm sure I'm not even remembering them right. Today I was stripping the sheets from the bed and feeling sorry for myself about the mess my youngest left there with frozen blueberries, and I thought, "so many people are rooting for you angel," and I burst into tears without even knowing whether my kid was supposed to be the angel, or me, or if the timing was random and had nothing at all to do with blueberries. Anyway. I don't even think that's the exact quote! Need to reread this fic.
In college I took a class called "The Bible as Literature" taught by a twinkly white-haired professor who refused to reveal any of his own beliefs. On the first day of the class he took a stool at front and said, very seriously, "I need you to understand that this book is dangerous. I can't explain how, and I can't explain why, but of all books, this one has the most chance to suddenly reach into your brain and rewire your life. It has happened to enough people that I give this warning every year." And then he methodically proceeded to show us how it's *fanfic*, how it's not one text but so many, layered over and speaking to each other in holy writ.
I am a nature-worshipping atheist; a nonpracticing Unitarian; a lapsed witch. I am not a believer. But as Good Omens was fanfic of the Bible, "Strange Pilgrims" is fanfic of Good Omens, in a way that loops around and joins back to the original text.
Be careful. This book is dangerous.

Summary
Think of a memory from your childhood—quick. The first thing that comes to mind. Now hold it. How does that memory shape who you are now? Considering how much you’ve forgotten, why is this the one that you didn’t let go?
A series of scenes—one for each spectre—exploring how the child shapes the adult.

These are all great but Chapter Five (the Chopper one) is particularly moving. I love the way gondalsqueen writes Chopper: there's seriously so much insight here into the forces that end up producing an intelligence like Chopper.

Summary
"It takes Hera two months to put him back together, scrambling in and out of the ditch with pilfered tools. Even then, she has to leave out a couple of essential pieces and just solder together new connections. If he were a person the poor droid would be missing some ligaments. She is shocked—shocked—when she flips the power switch for the twenty-fifth time and gets not only whirrs and beeps, but strings of words that almost look like sentences on her wrist translator. Of course, the thoughts don’t make a lot of sense…she hopes… but he moves around and extends those arms towards things (oh, she needs to find some more grease for his arms), and it’s almost like owning a real droid."

AMAZING exploration of Chopper and Hera's history together. It's about family and coming-of-age and how we make ourselves by recognizing the humanity of others (although in this story no one is actually human). It's beautiful.

The chrono alarm started blaring again, and he shoved the Zeltron off him as he stood. The back of his neck throbbed as the room spun around him, the skin red hot when he reached up to touch it.
Kanan and the aftermath of a drunken decision, because pre-Gorse Kanan was a disaster.
