Summary
It occurs to Morty then that he had never actually seen Rick's arms before.
But, when he really thought about it the logic started to make sense. Feelings so overwhelming that the only way to deal with them was to make them tangible. Cover up an emotional pain with something louder to drown it out. It was the same logic as any other distraction he had tried, just a bit more…immediate. He knew Rick wasn't exactly a role model to copy, and he certainly knew his coping mechanisms weren't anything close to healthy. But, Morty had tried everything else, and he was quite desperate.
Maybe just this once he'd try it, and never do it again.

Morty sees Rick's old scars and tries to understand.

Neil doesn’t say anything, can’t, because his tongue is swollen in his mouth, bitten down from hours of pain, his lips cracked and sore and split down the sides. He’s shivering, but only because Riko had stopped touching him with a promise to return and the anxiety rolls over him in waves, wracking him, his stomach, his chest, and it’s hard to breathe under all of this blood in his throat, but Riko offers him a drag across the expanse of Kevin’s bed and Neil takes it, their fingers touching, Riko’s warm where they slide over Neil’s, and Neil inhales and coughs and leaves a red stain on the cigarette like lipstick, but Riko doesn’t mind, places his mouth where Neil’s had been.

Kaveh used to think that Alhaitham had mastered the art of ignoring him. The man would remain unflappable as he continued to read his worn copy of The Origins of Enkanomiyan Language, even when Kaveh was a hair’s breadth away from shattering the windows of their house with his severity of pitch.
No amount of screaming, threats to throw things, or violently waving in front of him could get Alhaitham to pause in his thirst for knowledge. As it turns out, Alhaitham literally just turns his hearing aids off so he doesn’t have to listen to Kaveh.
It’s for this exact reason that Kaveh has decided to learn Sumerian Sign Language.

For Freminet, taking the brunt of what he thought was an acid attack aimed towards Spina di Rosula's boss was nothing more than a split second decision. He wouldn't call himself a hero by any stretch of the imagination, and he wouldn't say he led his life with noble and virtuous intentions either...
...but when the urge to help someone comes to him, he ponders little over it. That's just what a good person would do, and Freminet desperately wants to be good.
Still, maybe he should have paid more attention to just what was being splashed.
OR
Freminet dissolves into water. That really should have been the end of it, but it seems like the ocean wasn't keen on letting him go yet.

Aventurine makes it out of the abyss - and into a different world. Things are different here - simpler. There are no Aeons, no intergalactic factions and corporations, no Paths and Blessings. He is not naïve enough to assume that there is no cruelty and discrimination here - for there always is - but for the most part, everything is peaceful.
Here, Aventurine's priorities are getting people's coffee orders right. Fairly straight forward, if you ask him.
Except for the bit where he is surrounded by too many familiar faces, and they remind him of a place he can no longer return to. That's okay. People come and go, and so will they.
Except for the bit where they come and go and come back.
AKA. Aventurine gets dropped into a coffee-shop AU with all the memories from before. He's handling things until he's not handling things. That's okay, because he still has friends (and Dr Ratio) in this world. He just doesn't know it yet.
