Summary
Gio had fallen into their lives at a point where the safety net had more holes than threads to hold. He was young, had the signs of a life hard won and fought through, but he tried. Absorbed absolutely anything his family would give him, even when it was nothing at all. Dark eyes, taking in any and all of the light he could just to find himself.
It was a tragedy in three parts just to watch him thrive off wavering candlelights and embers, wandering around the halls like a detective finding hints of some past crime.
Mikey squares himself. Finds that thread left in him that’s farther and farther away every day. Gio deserves the light, he can make some for him. He can.
Or: a series of standalone oneshots about Giorgio Hamato finding a home, getting adopted, and being loved back--not necessarily in that order. Set in both timelines.

Summary
The kids were gone. They failed. It’s been over half a year.
There wasn’t a time limit to this. To finding them. To bringing them back home. But it still felt like a metaphorical noose tightening around their necks with each passed, wasted second. They were exhausted. And well past the point of being horrified at their situation that they were now seated, practically squatters, in the backyard of downright despondent.
The kids were gone. They failed. They kept failing. The heartbreak was something physical now. Clawing into their chests like it had a personal agenda to make them all hollow. And there was an anger there, burning and coiled tight enough to make them all feel brittle with it.
The kids, their kids, were still gone. And their millions of impossible, stupid, desperate plans kept failing.
But parents, as Darius was quick to catch on, were impossible, stupid, desperate things too. Stubbornness something etched into their titandammed bones, and it didn’t really matter that their millions of plans kept failing.
They were exhausted, and horrified, and miserable and angry. They kept coming up with a million more.

Summary
There is scarred over tissue on his hands from cuts that never got the chance to heal right. There are mismatched colored bruises on his arms and shoulders that look suspiciously adult-hand sized. There are dark bags under his eyes that can't be thumbed away or peeled off like a sticker. And there is a deep-seated fear and lack of self-worth that is so ingrained into his psyche, that it's practically tattoed on his heart and ribs.
And there are things that Darius just can't do, like try out healing magic, or wear black socks with brown sandals, or forget about the death of his beloved mentor from his youth.
But there is a kid. A kid barely 10 years old, who flinches away when his name is called. Who would stand in the acid rain and hurt himself just to prove his importance. Who believes that he's not good enough. That he deserves every broken bone and bloody nose he gets. That love is conditional.
There is a little kid, who is fighting for his life right in front of him, and Darius can't do a lot of things, but Titan be dammed if he can't at least help this one kid.

"Don't blame Leo for trying," Raph piped up, a bit tense, and Donnie immediately bit down on his lip to stop himself from shouting in frustration. "We kinda can't ignore it, buddy. You're always doing… y'know."
Donnie glared daggers at him. Raph flapped his hand around in lieu of an explanation.
"How articulate of you," he ground out, trying not to sound too offended.
"Y'know," Raph repeated, intelligent as ever. "Your thing."
"Your ninpo," Mikey interjected. "You do that thing. I think Barry called it projecting? With your feelings."
Donnie's heart sank into his stomach.
"I what?"
(or: despite his insistence, donnie doesn't actually function like a machine. he finds a way to try and change that.)
