Donnie glared daggers at him. Raph flapped his hand around in lieu of an explanation.
"How articulate of you," he ground out, trying not to sound too offended.
"Y'know," Raph repeated, intelligent as ever. "Your thing."
"Your ninpo," Mikey interjected. "You do that thing. I think Barry called it projecting? With your feelings."
Donnie's heart sank into his stomach.
"I what?"
(or: despite his insistence, donnie doesn't actually function like a machine. he finds a way to try and change that.)

Another buzz comes in as Jason is double checking the daggers shoved into his boots. And then another. And another. It’s incessant. With a huff, Jason opens the phone back up to idly stroll through the stream of Dick’s inconsistently punctuated texts.
Tim what is this
Where are you
You said you had homework??????

Well, he seems a little distressed.
Jason scrolls back up to the top of the chat, ignoring Dick’s incoming messages to take a closer look at the inciting image. It’s blurry and dark. Jason has to hold the phone ridiculously close to his face just to make it out. A green-gloved hand gives a thumbs-up over a piece of wet pavement. Jason squints closer. It’s not just wet. It’s a deep, slick red.
Cool. Whose blood is that? Jason asks. Dick’s response is immediate: NOT HELPING JAY.

Because Mikey’s not paying attention to what’s in front of them, Leo sees it first through the thinning fog. He thinks it’s a tree trunk at a glance, tall and slender and curving oddly where it rises above the others. Then it moves, bending as if in a wind, and by the time it twists around to face the car, Leo realizes it’s not a tree at all.
“What,” he says, feeling entirely too small in the open-top Jeep.
Mikey, who went through a dinosaur phase that lasted the entirety of his pre-teen years, points at it and declares, “Sauropod!”
“Animatronic,” Leo says, “right?”
“Right,” Mikey parrots automatically. Then, more slowly, “I mean, it has to be. Right?”
“Right,” Leo agrees, but his heart isn’t in it.
The first Jeep has slowed to an abrupt stop, and theirs slows to a stop behind it. The dinosaur trumpets at them, like the elephants at Mikey’s zoo, and half a dozen other slender necks rise out of the mist at the call to peer in their direction.

The first letter arrived right to Tim's desk.
He didn’t think much of it at first. It was a plain white thing, a tidy little card tucked unobtrusively in amongst the stack of memos and reports from other departments that his secretary had left on his desk. He spent several minutes getting settled before he even really glanced at it.
Finally, he began scanning his stack, zeroing in on the card only because it looked more interesting than a memo.
The cardstock was good quality. It landed in his palm with a satisfying schlak.
The handwriting on the card was… odd.
Neat, perfectly legible, but shaky - like a child anxiously practicing their letters. It was so nice speaking with you the other day, it read. I hope you’ll make time for me again sometime soon!
It was punctuated with a little crooked smiley face that had been crossed out and redrawn, too carefully to look natural. The eyes were perfect, ballpen circles.
