Valentino squeaks again before his eyes lock onto someone sitting at the bar. He watches an arc of electricity travel up the antennas on his boxy TV head.

Every word is a stab to Vox’s ugly, bruised heart. He turns his gaze back to the reports on his desk and pointedly picks one up, hoping to convey just how much he isn’t bothered. “I don’t care. Go find someone else to piss for you. There’s no shortage of freaks in Hell.”
The report is snatched out of his hand.
“You won’t deny me,” Alastor states. His confidence is infuriating—and deeply unnerving. “You don’t want me to get it from someone else. You want to be the only one permitted to give me this.”

At the next lingering glance, Alastor leans back in his chair, crossing one leg over the other. The action clearly makes Vox regret looking, and he snaps his gaze back to Valentino so quickly he may have pulled a muscle. Time to strike.
“Is it working?”
The way Vox tenses at Alastor’s question is gratifying, almost as much as the look of utter confusion on his face when he turns back. “What?”
“Is it working? This little demonstration—is it making you feel powerful?”

Summary
Alastor strategically presses his hand to Vox’s chest, fingers splaying above that madly beating heart, and he leans in—with an expression that hopefully comes across as seductive rather than desperate.
“I want you,” he purrs, “to kiss me.”
“I—Um. What brought this on?”
“Does it matter?”
“It matters to me.”
Oh, out of all the times for him to be considerate! Alastor wasn’t expecting such hesitation; frankly, he thought Vox would jump at the slightest indication of permission. Why does he have to rein in his greedy, grabby little hands now?
“This isn’t one of those times when I’m indulging you,” Alastor says after a pause. “You are to indulge me—without questioning what I get out of it. This is not a lead up to anything sexual, and you are not to get off. I just want you to kiss me until my lips are bruised and my jaw is sore and my tongue is numb. Can you manage that?”
Alastor is coming apart at the seams after returning from a summons from Lilith. He decides to try purging the taste of her from his mouth with that of Vox’s.
