Caitlyn hated how her heart sped up.
She looked away, grumbling, "Because... because you're supposed to be loyal to me."
Vi's smirk faltered slightly.
Caitlyn crossed her arms tighter. "I mean-not that we ever had anything. But still! You-You can't just..."
She trailed off, biting her lip.
Vi studied her for a long moment. "Caitlyn."
Caitlyn refused to meet her gaze.
Vi sighed, softer now. "I'm single, okay?"
Caitlyn swallowed.
Vi hesitated before continuing. "But yeah, I... I do love someone."
Caitlyn hiccupped, rubbing at her eyes furiously.
Vi reached for her, concerned. "Caitlyn, why are you-"
"I knew it!" Caitlyn blurted, voice wobbling.
Vi blinked. "Knew what?"
Caitlyn sniffled. "You do love someone! And-and now I have to compete with them?"
Vi opened her mouth-then shut it, utterly baffled. "I-what?"
Caitlyn grabbed Vi's hands. "Just-just love me instead!"

Her wounded eye throbbed lightly, tingling behind the padded bandage she wore. She subconciously touched a finger gently at the wrapping, the coarse material startling her back to reality.
How ironic, she thought.The war is over, the city in ruins, its people shaken. Putting bricks back together is one thing, but can people be put back together quite so easily?

Vi rolled her eyes slightly, shrugging and still refusing to meet her sister’s gaze. “Right. So you find me a date that doesn’t know what I look like, I go out with her looking… less hot, and then if she sticks around that proves she likes me for my great personality.”
With a slightly screwed up expression that meant she was about to argue back, Caitlyn sat back in her seat and crossed her arms again, giving a little shrug.
“Fine. I’ll give it a shot. You set me up with a woman who doesn’t know who I am, and I’ll give it a fair try. See if my horrid personality doesn’t scare her away.”
Believing they keep attracting shallow dates, Vi and Caitlyn separately agree to go ‘undercover’ for their next one, hiding parts of themselves. When they’re unknowingly set up with each other, they both struggle between wanting to being authentic and wanting to stubbornly prove a point, as they’re forced to rely on their personalities to make the relationship work.

"You aren't supposed to be here." the woman tells her.
"Is your name on this damn bridge?" Vi bites back, not yet opening her eyes to regain focus.
"I'm sorry but I really need this bridge to be alone and...if you could please leave, I'd appreciate it." the woman says, an accent so thick it might as well have clogged her throat.
That's it.
Vi opens her eyes and turns her head to get a good look at her.
"Listen here you—" the words got caught in her throat at that moment, her initial thought and insult that sat on the tip of her tongue.
Her grip on the railing unconsciously softened, unaware of how the tension had slowly started to slip away.
The woman was so beautiful, Vi almost didn't want to jump.

Everything she does has to sparkle, and it’s been that way since she was a child living in Piltover, attempting to shine beneath her mother’s thumb and her father’s loving but wary gaze. When she gets the chance to flee to the other side of the country in Zaun, all she can see is promise. With a rare jolt of spontaneity, she packs her bags and hops on the plane to ZAX, where she’s sure to find her delightful best friend Jayce and his small but well-designed apartment awaiting her arrival.
Except that when she lands on the other side of the country with nearly everything she owns shoved in two oversized suitcases, Jayce has some news: he’s moving out, with his brand new fling, to another city entirely. Oh, and he found her a roommate.
Or, Caitlyn finds herself on the other side of the country, alone, with a pink haired roommate with an attitude problem and one hell of a job.

This is an enemies to friends with benefits to lovers arc set in a modern coffee shop/café AU. I am writing it specifically at the request of my wife, who has a thing for barista-centric fanfics and loves Caitlyn/Vi. Chapter titles are quotes from Arcane.

“We need to get in,” Vi stated, probably making herself sound a lot more suspicious than she had intended.
The woman grimaced, moving the aim of the gun in her hands slightly, ensuring that it would still hit the correct place, despite how Vi had moved away. “Like I said, what are you doing here?” her voice was cold, chilling.
“And why do you need to know?” Vi remarked, coming across as defensive in her panicked state.
“If you don’t tell me, I’ll shoot.” that same voice replied, still sharp as ever.
Vi husked out a small laugh, the corners of her mouth twisting into a teasing grin as her eyes darted towards the woman’s right arm, raising an eyebrow towards the bite wound. “You talk big for a girl who’s walking around with a fuckin’.. expiry date on her arm.”
Vi then moved her gaze riiight up, staring straight into those cold, uncaring blue eyes. She noticed the way they widened, for a split second, her lip quivering slightly in response to her cruel joke- before she quickly clenched her jaw again, narrowing her eyes even smaller towards Vi’s direction, “And you joke too much for a girl who’s about to be shot.”

Breaking into a Piltover mansion sounded like a good idea when Vi conceived it. Her pack was struggling to get by and the richest of the rich surely wouldn’t miss a bit of silverware. What she hadn't anticipated, however, was getting caught by the alpha daughter of the Kiramman pack leader. Backed into a corner, Vi capitalises on the misunderstanding that she’d been in Caitlyn’s room for other reasons. The Kirammans surely couldn’t abide a scandal such as their daughter sleeping with an omega who isn't her mate. Vi wouldn’t feel bad about pressing her advantage, because what the hell, no-one in power is innocent, right? So what if she ruins this woman's life - both their lives - by tying them to each other?

After an attack that put an even deeper divide between Zaun and Piltover, Vampires were forced into exile. Many lived happily in Zaun, but there was always the unfortunate possibility of turning feral. And now there was a streetdrug that increased that chance, even expediting the affliction. Vander and his kids kept the streets safe, Vi being the leader of their group with Vander's retirement to run The Last Drop. But these new ferals are proving to be too much to handle.
Word of the drug is starting to spread and, if it reaches Piltover's ear, then even more discourse and violence will ensue. But Caitlyn Kiramman, one of the last remaining vampires that lived Topside, swore to stop the violence between vampires and humans. She decides the pick up the trail, which leads her to an even better find.
Vi.
Investigations, interrogations, fighting urges, and giving in to temptation breaks Caitlyn's usual cycle of watching from afar.

Vi blinks slowly once. Twice. She waits for the punchline of the joke but nothing else follows Vander’s insane request.
“You want me to apologize to some rich Piltie councilor for blowing up one shabby lab?” He’s got to be kidding. “Why? It’s not like they can’t afford to buy ten more of those. They probably wouldn’t even have noticed if the enforcers hadn’t made such a big deal out of it.”
“You’re not apologizing to Cassandra Kiramman,” Vander sighs and for the first time, Vi can see his age in his wrinkled brow and tired eyes. “You’re going to apologize to their daughter, Caitlyn.”
Vi frowns, “Daughter?” She didn’t know the Kirammans had a daughter. “Why the hell should I talk to their daughter?”
“Because Sheriff Grayson has told me that she’s been in the hospital since your little stunt topside.”
She stops pacing, her feet rooted to the old carpet as her blood runs cold.

Summary
Vi moved through the house like a ghost. Restless and unsettled, a flash of dulled colour floating from room to room. A whisper that when Caitlyn turned her head, she would just be in time to catch the wisp of her turning a corner. For someone so broad and capable of explosive violence, she was surprisingly stealthy.
Healing takes many things: time, patience, and… space. Caitlyn’s trying to accommodate what she thinks Vi needs to heal after losing Jinx while utterly failing to consider what she needs. Too much space creates its own problems.
