"Iggy's letting me borrow his car," Mickey says between clenched teeth, as though it's physically taxing him to tell Ian.
"Okay?" Ian says, hesistant after Mickey doesn't continue. "That's great?"
"I'm going for a drive," Mickey glowers now, eyebrows rising up his forehead steadily as he crosses his arms. Ian waits for Mickey to continue, but he doesn't follow up with anything else.
"O-kay?" Ian frowns, confused. "Like, around the block? D'you need it for a job or something?"
"Jesus fuckin' Christ, Gallagher," Mickey groans, like he's in pain. "I am going on a drive in Iggy's car, care to fuckin' join me or some shit?"

Summary
Ian doesn't even look at him as he leaves.
He feels the anger seep out of his body at such a rapid pace that he's left feeling cold. All of the fight leaves him in a rush, his shoulders slumping as the door closes with a horrible sense of finality.
How many times has Mickey been in this situation by now? How many times has he watched as Ian's left him behind because of something Mickey did or didn't do? Memories flash in his mind, of a whispered "don't" in his bedroom (not enough), a poorly concealed plea to wait (not enough), a desperate attempt for the last few steps across a border (not enough).
Mickey thought that it would be enough. That he had finally given enough. That there couldn't possibly be any reason why the two wouldn't agree on whatever came next, even with minor hiccups along the way. This doesn't feel like a minor hiccup. This feels like another goddamn ultimatum, and Mickey isn't sure he can fucking budge on this one.

"You're ho-ome," he hears as he walks into the living room, sees Mickey leaning his head backwards over the couch's armrest, a goofy smile on his face.
He quirks his eyebrow. "Having fun there?"
"Hi," Mickey says instead of answering, voice absent of its usual gruff. He sounds younger when he gets like this, and it never fails to make Ian's heart squeeze with tenderness.
"Hey," he smiles.

"Christ!" Mickey yells out, nearly jumping out of his skin. "The fuck are you doin'?"
"Mickey," Ian slurs unhelpfully, gripping at his cheeks hard enough that Mickey feels his face getting squished.
"Ian, fuckin'—" his voice comes out muffled, pulling at Ian's hands without any success. "Let go of me you—!"
Before he can finish, Ian lurches forward again, tries to get their faces closer together in what Mickey can only assume is a really shitty attempt at kissing him, which pushes way more weight onto him and causes him to stumble backwards.
"Fuckin'—" Mickey squawks as their legs get tangled together, his eyes widening as gravity suddenly inverts and he loses his footing, falling back onto the couch.
He has approximately half of a second to think to himself this is going to hurt, before Ian's full weight crushes down onto him and knocks the wind right out from his lungs.
"Jesus," he wheezes as Ian scrambles on top of him, getting his hands back on Mickey's face.

"Okay, so. Don't freak out," Mickey starts.
It's a horrible opening that immediately makes Ian frown. A myriad of possibilities fly through his mind of what exactly that could mean.
He's about to question what the fuck Mickey means by don't freak out, ready to lose his mind over Mickey doing illegal shit right after the two of them just got off parole, when Mickey continues:
"I’m at the hospital.”
