There is a dead man in the library at the Caractacus Club. So far, so bad.
The matter escalates beyond the confines of your typical locked-room mystery pretty quickly, and our team of intrepid amateur gentleman detectives soon find themselves embroiled in a case involving, in no particular order, pigeon guts, purportedly ancient books, Wednesday night Satanists, a boxing club in Whitechapel, a man with no nose, an actual immortal, and the chemical composition of Hell itself.
Not to mention the small matter of Quinn's potential unfaithfulness... really, it's no wonder OB has a headache.

This was… not exactly how Hob had planned it to go...
What was supposed to happen was that a thrown cup of hot tea and a few well-placed punches would take down Constantine’s duo of ruffians and then they’d only have the lovely Lady herself to deal with. Two immortals against one probably-human… that was good odds. And it absolutely would have worked… if those were the only goons Lady Johanna had decided to bring with her. (They weren’t.) Oh, and if they hadn’t had some magic fucking bullets. (They did.)
So instead now Hob had his hands bound at the small of his back, one shoulder wrenched out of place, the other with a crossbow bolt in it, shards of the saucer from his teacup lodged in his thigh, a slash across his upper and lower lip, clothes completely ruined, the cravat used to gag him soaked through with his own blood, someone else's blood matting his hair and dripping into one eye… all that and yet he was looking up into his Stranger’s smug ass fucking little grin.
What if 1789 went just a little differently?

Rael is close enough now that he can smell the man—the strange blend of coffee and cardamom that was foisted upon him as his signature scent, but also the sweat and salt that accompanies Rael everywhere underneath it. It sends a pang down the back of Qui-Gon's throat, and for a second an overwhelming desire to bury his face in the crook of Rael’s neck and lick the taste off his skin consumes him.
