“Look it doesn't - it doesn't matter just, it’s - what are you doing here?!”
The mouse looks up at Keith. It understands what he’s saying, it absolutely does. But it's purposefully choosing to ignore his question. The audacity. Keith grits his teeth, running a hand through his hair. It's not like they can go all the way back to the castle now. The planning for the mission is underway and they’ll be taking off soon. Probably as soon as tomorrow, even. The war won’t wait for them. They have to keep going. Mice and all.
“You can't be here. It's too dangerous it -” the mouse is tiny, comfortably fitting in his hand. “You're a mouse?!” Keith exclaims, voice low. It’s ridiculous. This cannot be real, but it is. The yellow mouse flexes its arms with gusto, pulling all kinds of poses as if to say it's strong and perfectly capable of fighting in this war. Keith seriously doubts that.

Keith leaves for the Blade of Marmora, and soon discovers - in more ways than expected - he's not alone...

Or, Keith joins the Blade of Marmora to strengthen himself as a leader. There, he learns that all attachments are nothing more than distractions. If that is really the case, then why does it leave him feeling so miserable?

Riku woke up relaxed, limbs melting into the bed and sighing dreamily as he felt Sora's warm body pressed up against his back. It was a recent arrangement, born of mutual insomnia and nightmares that seemed to vanish when Riku was in Sora's arms, or occasionally Sora snuggled into his chest.
It was one Riku cherished, forming a strict bed time he kept to near religiously, to the point that Sora had even commented on what a night owl Riku had been. The truth was, Riku couldn't get enough of Sora holding him, touching him, whispering drowsy good mornings and content good nights to.
