TL;DR: After too many months of being caged in the tower, treated like a little kid, Bob breaks down and starts the long journey of healing and finding purpose, supported by his new fucked up family. Well, except for one of them, but maybe that's for the best.

Realistically, Charles knew it was the least advantageous moment to suddenly remember his impending fatherhood. The Americans and Russians were moments away from inciting a new world war, and likewise, Erik himself seemed a split second from turning humanity against mutants forever. But the words were there without his permission, spilling from his lips in a desperate attempt to save Erik from his own madness, and Charles from the inevitable grief that would follow. So he said it. He shouted it. In one felled swoop he told Erik about the life growing inside of him. It was ridiculous and unbelievable and frightening, and Charles had done his best to ignore it up until that moment. But then, with the missiles moments away from destroying so many human lives, Charles recognized the life inside him for what it was. Grasping at straws he told Erik they'd created a child. There was a baby to consider now, equal parts theirs. Pretending the baby was anything but, was no longer an option.

So...what was the nexus event Loki and Sylvie caused? Well, it certainly wasn't something either of them expected. The two share an incredible but pure moment together, once that will have lasting consequences when Loki wants to give Sylvie everything she never had. And when they get back to the TVA, he begins to notice that Mobius is always making excuses to be close to him...but that's pretty far down on the list of things Loki is prepared to deal with at the moment.
Will be Loki/Mobius eventually; they just need to stop being fools and let it happen. Also featuring unconventional pregnancy dynamics, because that's something most Lokis specialize in. TW: miscarriage and discussion of it. All Sylvie & Loki stuff is strictly platonic.

And so this ragtag dysfunctional team’s first mission ends up being to New York City, 1949 to save Steve Rogers from one incredible returning-the-Infinity-Stones mission fuck-up. Or, in other words, to get Bucky his boyfriend back.
