We're back with another year of Inkwhumptobertale!
And this year, we have another twist: another list! That's right: every day, I'll be facing the challenge of eight different unrelated prompts, and I'll have to do my best to cram them all into the story, somehow. Admittedly, there is a low chance of me actually doing that, but I am obligated to use at least three prompts each day, and I'll add more if possible. I'd like to do at least one day fitting all eight prompts into the story at some point in the month, though. So..prepare for chaos!

At 13, Serena became the Kalos League Champion, rocketing her into stardom, fame, and glory. Unable to settle down permanently in Kalos just yet, possibly (probably) due to trauma, Serena heads to Hoenn under the guise of studying the origins of Mega Evolution, only briefly returning to Kalos to handle Champion affairs when absolutely needed.
Five years later, after seeing a very odd promotional video for Hotel Z, Serena is stunned. AZ, the 3,000-year-old giant homeless senile war criminal who interrupted her Champion parade, owned a HOTEL?! Serena decides that a stay in Lumiose is in order immediately. What was supposed to be a drop-in visit quickly spirals into another massive undertaking, featuring a wide array of new and fun colorful megalomaniacs, and training a brand new team.
At least this time, it was just the fate of Lumiose on the line, not the destruction of the entire world and every life form on it. Small victories.

"You're a doctor."
"Don't you think that if I could do anything about this, I would?“
Suffering from heat exhaustion during a particularly hot race day causes Lightning’s past comes back to haunt him, and the worst part of it is, he can’t figure out why.

“Yeah, okay, but why this?” Lightning gestured to the room. “Why now? Why me? I-I wrecked your road; wrecked your town. I was horrible. I never had a nice thing to say to you—not once. You could’ve left me in the pits right after the race, and yet here we are.”
A wave of silence crashed over them. Not for the first time, Lightning wished Doc would mull over his next words a little faster.
After what felt like an eternity and a half, Doc said, “I called the press.”
Or, Lightning’s reflection on his life and Radiator Springs leads him to a very important conversation with Doc after the race.

That's not bad, for a plea deal for an ex-terrorist...except for the sheer amount of work. And the absent Professor Sycamore. And the fact that no one wants to work with her. And the abysmal conditions of the Wild Zones. She'll do the work (mostly) alone, sure, but not without tearing everyone else involved a new one, because she's nothing if not committed to her job and to the *actual* wellbeing of the Pokemon of Lumiose City.

She’d spent much of last night shouting instructions over the din of pokemon battles, and while the first night had left her with only a little strain, multiple nights a week of the tournament have compounded to the verge of losing her voice. She makes a mental note to have some tea when she wakes up.
Harmony's pulling her weight on team MZ and making a name for herself in the royale. She hasn't quite managed to figure out work-life balance yet.
