Will, being pressed up against the wall by someone–
His head back, eyes closed, a smile ghosting his lips as he presses them to another boy’s–
One hand running up and down the other boy’s arms–
His other hand in the boy’s hair, fingers weaving through it, pulling–
The soft breath he breathes as he turns his head a little to the right, his mouth open, wanting, tongue peaking out–
All that in the split second before Will hears the door swinging, makes eye contact with Mike, and jumps away, red in the face, leaning against his bedframe. Though Mike can’t tell is that’s because of embarrassment or what he was just–
“Mike– fuck– what are you–?” And Mike looks into the face of the other boy, his stomach dropping a little when he sees Carlton avoiding his gaze.
Holy shit, he can’t breathe. He stumbles back a little.
“Sorry,” Mike breaths, gaze going up and down Will, his tousled hair, his wrinkled shirt, and landing on his lips, which are–
Which are–
His mind is suddenly filled to the brim with TV static.
“Sorry–” as he runs away, as fast as his feet can carry him.

The reaction is immediate and merciless. Dustin makes a dramatic gagging noise. El gasps like she’s been handed gossip gold. Lucas high-fives Max, shaking her hand in his.
Mike doesn’t say anything. He just watches Will, watches the way he shrugs it off, the way he laughs a little too loud, the way his ears go red.

Mike Wheeler has not seen the party in over twenty years. It wasn't like they'd all ghosted him; the group had just drifted apart over time. All in their late thirties by now, everyone was living out their happily-ever-afters. Lucas and Max were married with a single daughter. Dustin ran away to California with Suzie to live out her fantasy of escaping her huge Mormon family. Will was in a very happy relationship with his boyfriend, somewhere off in New York.
And then there was Mike. A failed attempt at an author, off out in the middle of nowhere Indiana, living on multiple addictions and the occasional bi-curious hookup with anyone remotely similar to Will.
Yeah. He's not doing too hot. But then, something comes to him in a dream. Someone.
Eleven is back. She's alive. And she's already planned for their reunion back in Hawkins in twenty-four hours.
He doesn't know if he can handle it; not just facing the party, but himself. His actions. His feelings. Feelings towards someone who is already in a happy relationship. Feelings he'd come to terms with a little too late.
But he can't keep making excuses. He needs to see them. No matter how painful it may be to see him again.
