Summary
After the church fire, Johnny survives and has lots of time to think in the hospital. He starts to reflect on the promises he and Ponyboy have made to each other, but from the second hand information he’s receiving it’s sounding like Pony doesn’t want that with him anymore.
Ponyboy likes Cherry, he really does, but he can’t help but wish that it was Johnny with him all the time instead of her. It’s not like that though.
Johnny and Ponyboy love each other, deeper than ‘just friends’, but it doesn’t make sense to them. Johnny doesn’t understand, and Ponyboy refuses to acknowledge it. What could go wrong?

When Sarah asks how his friends were he says they were fine. He could try to ignore how she didn’t believe him.
She’s dealt with guilty, emotional children for years as a career. Paul feels guilty, and like a child. There are so many things he hasn’t told anyone.
He shouldn’t lie to his wife.

He notices she’s wearing the silver necklace he helped her steal a few weeks ago. “So you’ll sleep with how many guys for cash but you ain’t got the money to get a necklace?”
“It’s not like that.” She says, eyeing the money in his hand.
“You ain’t like me, Sylvia. I know you don’t do this shit for a laugh. And-” he hands the money back. He’ll give her that much. “You doll yourself up for a guy like that? Straightening your hair?”
Sylvia can tell he’s more confused than angry. “He thought he was gonna get someone else”
“Huh?”
“We’re short on the water bill, and the other girl got sick so-”
“I like the curls.”
“Not everyone does though, Dallas. Not everyone is like us greasers who ain’t care about black or brown or curly or zigzag.”

An ineffable love story, charted across two generations of Hogwarts students and featuring an absurdly lovable (and extremely thick) cast.
Featuring: Two rival professors who both equally detest the Triwizard Tournament. Shared history and trauma, and plenty of angst to go around. Also tons of student shenanigans from The Them and daddy issues aplenty.
Is it worth the read? Who knows? It's ineffible.
