In a reality where the golden guard vanished on his 11th birthday, when he still in training. Barely anybody remembered his name, pr his face. And the plot of The Owl House continued on. Without him.
Fast forward 6 years and the Day of Unity has been stopped, and the government is being rebuilt. Belos is dead, the collector is lost and Hunter... well... Hunter is back from the dead and ready for revenge. And he might not be alone.(In this fic, the CATT's were successful and sabotaged the Day of Unity and Belos was killed. The rest of season 1 and 2 happened normally except Hunter wasn't there. Season 3 didn't happen because the collector was gone before anyone saw him. So this is almost a ear after the Day of Unity, so Luz is about 15)

Between Sleep-talking humans, couch-hogging witches and demons, and an owlbeast curse with no respect for personal space, he could almost miss the solitude of his old bedroom. Almost.

Except, it turned out, at the owl house.It wasn't the faded old mat serving as a bed, which was so thin he could count the cracks between the boards on the hardwood beneath him by feel alone. Now that they’re face-to-face, the flustered red spreading up across Amity’s cheekbones is all too clear. “What’s going on is that we’ve been living with a grimwalker for months, and you didn’t tell us! Do you know how scary that is?”
“Woah, wait, Amity–”
But Amity keeps going, pacing back and forth without letting go of Luz’s hand. “I mean, you saw what happened earlier! You knew that he was a– a monster, something that we only ever hear about in horror stories, and you decided it was okay to not tell us? What the hell, Luz!”
Or: Rather than fading into obscurity, grimwalkers have become monsters of legend, terrifying shadowy villains behind a fair amount of the Boiling Isles folklore. In the immediate aftermath of the reveal and their return to the Boiling Isles, the group is incredibly divided on how to react, and tensions are spiking. Meanwhile, Hunter isn't handling the death of his palisman very well, and Camila Noceda is doing all that she can to protect her kids in a world far beyond her ability to predict and control.

Summary
A case of the common mold makes Hunter so delirious he forgets that Willow is his girlfriend and attempts to ask her out.
"Wow," he breathes, seemingly transfixed by the mere sight of her. Willow suppresses a giggle, setting the little container of soup on his bedside table and reaching forward to press her palm against his forehead. Hunter's eyelids flutter closed, and he exhales on a soft, contented hum.
"How are you feeling?" she asks, fixing him with a fond smile as she curls up into the space beside him and coaxes his head into her lap.
"Awesome," Hunter replies with a dreamy sigh, staring up at her with hearts in his eyes and a big goofy grin on his face while Willow hums a lullaby and gently cards her fingers through his hair.
They stay like that for a while, Hunter drifting in and out of consciousness, lulled by Willow's soothing ministrations. Just when she thinks he's finally fallen asleep, he glances up at her, a look of hopeful determination in his dozy, half-lidded eyes.
"You are so pretty," he drawls, his voice thick with sleep. "Are you single?"
