“Gorgeous,” he finally uttered, breathing out and bringing his gaze back to Sunoo’s face, praying the boy couldn’t see the blush on his cheeks as he pointedly looked him up and down, before looking back into his sparkling eyes.
Wherein: Their last summer before going off to university, Sunghoon spends a whirlwind weekend trip on the West coast with his best friends, and ends up finding himself utterly entranced by a local carnival worker with a penchant for glitter and cinnamon sugar. Naturally, flirting and existential crisis ensues.

In fact, Sunghoon would say Sunoo is way more affectionate when it’s just the two of them.
Whenever he tries to tell the others this, he seems like the crazy one, because, "well, Sunoo isn’t the one who fuels dating rumors between you guys," but Sunghoon knows damn well that he is the one who interlocks their fingers under the table, who asks to call whenever they’re apart, and who quietly giggles over fan content when nobody is looking.
Unfortunately, all that stuff remains either subtle or secret, and Sunghoon will continue to look crazy until the universe decides to strike Kim Sunoo down with a visibly clingy habit which will prove Sunghoon’s “crazy” theories true. Until then, he will remain the clingy one, and Sunoo, for lack of better term — the seemingly nonchalant one.
Because that would never happen, right?
Sunoo isn’t outwardly clingy by any means, but if the increasing disappearance of Sunghoon’s clothes is any indicator, he probably misses his boyfriend just as much.

“Don’t you ever get tired?” He impulsively asks, pulling back from the hug and wiping his eyes roughly. Even he feels tired, impossibly so, of himself, so he can’t imagine how Sunghoon must feel having to pick up the broken, incomprehensible pieces of him.
“Of?” Sunghoon hums, like he had no clue in the world, as he takes him by the hand and guides him to lay down on his bed, as gentle as the very first time he came to comfort him.
Sunoo makes a vague gesture, even as his hand shakes. “This.” Me, he thinks, but doesn’t say.
Sunoo has anxiety. Sunghoon takes care of him, even as he’s told he shouldn’t.

The first thing Sunghoon noticed was the cold.
Not the kind of cold that made you reach for a blanket or burrow deeper into the warmth of your mate's embrace. This was different, a cold that existed in the absence of sensation itself, like his body had forgotten what temperature meant.
"Sunoo?" Sunghoon's voice came out, but wrong—like speaking underwater, muffled and distant even to his own ears.
Sunoo didn't react. Didn't even twitch.
"Baby, what's wrong?" Sunghoon reached out automatically, the way he'd done thousands of times before. When Sunoo had nightmares, when he was sick, when he was stressed about work, when he just needed to be held, Sunghoon reached for him. It was instinct. Like breathing.
His hand passed through Sunoo's shoulder.
Sunghoon jerked back, staring at his own hand like it had betrayed him. He tried again, more carefully this time, reaching for Sunoo's tear-stained cheek. His fingers made contact with nothing, moving through skin and bone and warmth like they were made of air. He could see his hand disappearing into Sunoo's face, but there was no resistance, no touch, no sensation of the soft skin he'd caressed a million times before.

Ni-Ki was the youngest of the vampires. So it was harder for him to keep his urges under control and a lot easier for the other three since they were used to it.
