He brings his mouth to the inside of Ronan’s thighs, over the freshly-blooming bruise Adam left there moments before. He lingers at the bones of Ronan's hips, comes up to kiss over the bite mark Adam left at Ronan’s shoulder.
“You’re okay?” Gansey asks him, quietly, leaning just above his face so he can watch Ronan’s eyes.
Ronan says, “Yeah, Gansey.”
The collar was around Ronan’s neck, not his own, but it was hard not to feel Ronan’s equal hold, the balance of give and take and service and submission they’d cultivated over time.

Cobb’s eyes trace over the helmet. Over Din’s face. Curious, probing, thoughtful. Din wonders if that’s what Cobb liked so much about his stolen armour; the freedom to be nothing more than it. People rarely care about the body under the beskar. Though, Din supposes Cobb never wore it like he himself does. There’s no way to explain it, unless someone has been faceless for longer than they’ve had a face.

Summary
Neil spent all of his life avoiding the responsibilities of being the Avatar, which included learning how to bend. Now that he's on his own, he has to fend for himself and prepare for the inevitable: Facing the Moriyamas and his father. He's as far from Moriyama sympathizers as he could manage, which lands him in the Skypeak Mountains in proximity to an probending training gym run by David Wymack. He can't afford the attention that comes with training under Wymack, so the coach turns him to a trouble case hellbent on ruining the lives of every recruiter that came to his gym for an earthbender.
i.e. Neil has to convince Andrew to train him.

They haven’t done this in awhile, and Ronan’s lips and teeth and tongue brush the dust off the memory of their first time, years ago. A little too much fire, hearts singing with want for adventure, toeing the line of danger, daring the universe to take them out in the flames. He remembers the way Ronan had looked at him, grin splitting his face, all of his sharp angles dusted with ashes.
