Kinn leaned in, raking him over with his eyes. It felt like hovering over turbulent waters, daring a wave to come and sweep him down. “What are you gonna do to make me remember?”
Porsche reached up and slid a hand through the gap in Kinn’s shirt. Two fingers traced under his left collar bone. “I’ll tattoo my name here. Then all your hookups will have to stop and ask, who’s this?”
“And what should I tell them?” Their faces were too close. Porsche’s fingertips felt like they were plugged directly into his nervous system, lighting up every cell in his body. Red warning lights started flashing in the back of Kinn’s brain but he didn’t care, couldn’t care.

As much as possible, Porsche tried to keep Chay in his room. Chay had a nanny named Benz who read stories and poetry to him. He had a menagerie of stuffed animals, a pet chameleon, and a pair of noisy Java finches (until he finally opened the cage and let them go). Chay roller-skated down the polished halls of the compound, built elaborate cities with his toys, and painted pictures with his mother.
Honestly, he probably would have gone crazy there, if it weren’t for Kim.

Porsche props his chin on Kinn’s chest, on his favourite spot in the valley between his pecs, and peers up at him. “Tell me? I’ve never seen you have a nightmare like that.”
He toys with the edge of the bandage wrapped awkwardly around Porsche’s shoulder. It’s a knife wound, scored shallow but long down from his collarbone towards Porsche’s nipple, which is certainly in Kinn’s top ten parts of Porsche’s body and probably top five, and not to be endangered under any circumstances. Porsche had tried to treat it himself and Kinn had dragged him to the medical wing and supervised the stitches and the bandaging himself, mentally cursing out the minor family’s men for a crowd of incompetents the whole time. “Deng. He was… the first bodyguard who died for me.”
