There is a little worm gnawing on the corners of his thoughts. Sometimes, it distracts him long enough to inch into his ear and whisper secrets he doesn’t want to know.
Thor presses on the wound, two fingers to its red mouth. The pain focuses him. All crawling things forgotten. He is their shield, their warrior, their prince. When he places his hand on the banister to ascend the stairs, he leaves a few bloody prints behind.
