“So you killed her in the end right?” He moves forward, elbows on the table. His brown eyes glow with intrigue. Everyone always wants anecdotes about her heinous murders. Lila has a reputation wherever she travels (much to Nieves’ distaste). She pulls back before remembering to smile.
“No no. I wouldn’t stand a chance in real combat. Believe me I …I’ve tried to fight her off before.”
She’s quiet. She's too quiet and Max has noticed now. He attempts to move over, reaching out for her arm. Like touching a hot iron , Nieves pulls back at the graze of his fingers. She brings her hands in, her left wrist gripping her right. Her shoulders bunch in. She shrinks. She can’t stand the thought of being touched right now.
She also can’t dare to look up at him. She’s scared to see the expression on his face.“Max” sucks in a breath.
“Whiskey on the rocks?”

Lila (para disgusto de Nieves) tiene una reputación prestigiosa. Nieves se aparta antes de recordar sonreír.
"No, no. No tendría ni una oportunidad en un combate real. Créeme, he intentado defenderme contra Bea antes".
Está callada. Demasiado callada y Max se ha dado cuenta del cambio repentino en su actitud. El hombre intenta acercarse a ella, pero Nieves se aleja instintivamente. La elfa no soporta la idea de que la toquen ahora mismo.
Tampoco puede levantar la vista a Reiner. Le asusta ver la expresión en su rostro.
"Max" toma aire.
"¿Whisky con hielo?"

"Donor heart and relevant elements of autonomic nervous system fully connected in P3471," the surgeon with her hands inside the woman said. "Doc?"
"Just a second... and there," Doc said, pulling his hands free from S2077's chest cavity. His gloves were stained thick with blood. "Donor heart fully connected in S2077. Give them the startup shock."
He felt an icy cold electric shock run through him, and would have screamed, if he could control his own throat.
The heart monitor beeped to life.
Pearl and Scott wouldn't be friends if they met under ordinary circumstances. They just bring out the worst in each other, for some reason. They'd probably be much happier apart.
Unfortunately, they didn't meet under ordinary circumstances. They met when a medical experiment left them sharing their injuries with each other. With the same heart pumping in both of their chests, they don't have much of a choice, do they?

Summary
PET Mail, made up of Pearl, Etho, and Tango, are asymptomatic carriers of the zombie virus that has wrecked their world ever since the bombs fell. While this bars them from interacting with the uninfected outside of special circumstances, it allows them to use their powers to deliver mail across distances and locations that would be too dangerous for the uninfected to travel. Traveling, meanwhile, allows them to never stay in one place long enough for the feelings to catch up.
Unless, of course, the mail is personal.

She sputters something, something about asking him what he’s doing, she doesn’t really remember.
