Someone she sends medical memes to and facetimes and watches bad movies on her couch to decompress, someone who pays for her coffee when she’s not looking and talks her down from the egde of a spiral and has met Becca. He’s — He’s Frank to her, and it’s weird to— talk about him that way. Extremely inappropriate, beyond what HR demands.
Still, Mel thinks she should defend his honor, and notes, “I think you might be letting your biases influence your judgment.”

Whatever carefully blank expression Lestat is trying on disappears like a slap. “Armand made a fledgling. Why would he do that?” Lestat asks.
“Oh, you know,” Louis says, watching the three dots of a new text pop up. “He knew Daniel was… important to me.”
He means to say it with rueful annoyance, as if to say, “so he ruined him.” But as Daniel’s text comes in—the most important question I should have asked you in that fucking interview: where do you buy coke in Dubai?—Louis’s voice trails off, his words maybe lacking some of the bite.

It is 1986. Louis sees a TV news broadcast while waiting for a connecting flight.
He buys a ticket to Melbourne, intent on asking Lestat what the hell he thinks he's up to pretending to be a news reporter.
Meanwhile, Dale Jennings has no idea what's about to come hurtling through his front door in the middle of the night.
Please note - this story was written and completed before S2 of IWTV aired, so the timeline from The Vampire Chronicles was used and not the new timeline established in the show. [I realise this would be confusing otherwise to anyone starting to read the fic since S2 was shown].
PS - new chapter 24 is the first chapter of the sequel, now being posted, Once Bitten, Twice Shy - Dale and Tim go investigating with Daniel Molloy.

The first was Louis de Pointe du Lac – infamous as the groupie who got the rockstar, then the rockstar himself, Lestat de Lioncourt. Along the way, he had met Armand, theatre impresario, who had seen it all from Shaftesbury Avenue to Broadway and was ready to dish the dirt.
Having got to know all three, it was obvious they loved each other, despite having a seriously deranged way of showing it.
It took a bar room brawl to bring everything to a head in ways he’d never have imagined, when Lestat loses all memory of who he was and who they had all been to one another.- Language:
