Summary
Summary: Death is brought home after Apocalypse is defeated. He does not remember being Remy LeBeau, but Rogue is convinced that Remy is still there. Remy/Death figures out who he is, and Rogue figures out what is really important to her. A series of oneshots starting with Deathbit’s return home. Probably my only fics that won’t always have entirely happy endings.
* I may have tricked myself into writing a longfic consisting of oneshots. These can probably be read as standalone fics, but they will make the most sense if read in order (sorry sorry!).

“Ah’m not leavin’ ‘im-!” she started, though jumped when a loud piercing squeal sounded behind her. She pivoted, mouth agape as she watched Beast begin pushing another hospital bed into the spacious cell. Where he got it and so fast, she couldn’t fathom.
With a soft smile, he maneuvered the cot beside Gambit’s, then adjusted a few of the machine’s monitoring his various vitals. “As you shouldn’t. However, you cannot help our Acadian friend with a sleepless mind.”
As Rogue’s eyes shifted between the blue furball and the cot, Beast couldn’t help himself and chuckled at her dumbfounded expression. “Ororo believed you would wish to stay with him. She insisted I bring an extra bed.”

He had been laughing with Jubilee in the hallway, his head tipped back, eyes bright, and then something had changed. His laughter faded into a breath that sounded almost like a gasp. His hand went to his side.
He turned away before anybody noticed. But Rogue did. She always did.
